    Abstract: A container handling vehicle includes a lower part and an upper part. The lower part includes a width and a length that form a vehicle footprint of the container handling vehicle; and a storage space configured to accommodate a storage container. The lower part includes a first set of wheels oriented in a first direction and a second set of wheels oriented in a second direction. The upper part is disposed vertically above the lower part, and includes a protruding section and a recessed section. The protruding section is configured to extend beyond the lower part. The protruding section includes at least one of: a battery, a battery slot configured to house the battery, or a sensor configured to determine a position of the container handling vehicle.

    Abstract: A storage system includes a first area, a second area, a vehicle, and a vehicle gate arrangement. The first area includes a framework structure including upright members and a two-dimensional first rail system arranged across a top of framework structure. The first rail system includes a first set of parallel rails arranged to guide movement of vehicles in a first direction across the top of the frame structure, and a second set of parallel rails arranged perpendicular to the first set of rails to guide movement of the vehicles in a second direction across the top of the framework structure that is perpendicular to the first direction. The first and second sets of parallel rails divide the first rail system into a plurality of access openings in the first rail system for allowing lifting and lowering of a storage container between a position above the first rail system and a position below the first rail system. The vehicle operable on the first rail system. The vehicle includes a first set of wheels for driving in the first direction and a second set of wheels for driving in the second direction. The second area includes a second rail system. The vehicle gate arrangement controls passage of the vehicle between the first area and the second area via a connecting rail system. The vehicle gate arrangement includes a space for accommodating the vehicle; a first shutter for separating the space and the first area; and a second shutter for separating the space and the second area. Both the first shutter and the second shutter are each actuatable between: an open position which allows passage of the vehicle therethrough; and an obstructing position which restricts passage of the vehicle therethrough. The first shutter and the second shutter are coupled to each other for synchronous movement such that one shutter moves in one direction with respect to a first opening and the other shutter moves in an opposite direction with respect to a second opening, and wherein the first shutter and/or the second shutter is in the respective obstructing position at any time.

    Abstract: An automated vertical farming system, includes a framework structure forming a grid storage arrangement. One or more module handling vehicles are arranged to travel and transport modules along a rail system. A control system is configured to control the travel and operation of the one or more module handling vehicles. Stackable growth modules are arranged to support growing plants, the growth modules having a footprint corresponding to that of a column of the framework structure, such that the growth modules may be arranged in stacks in the columns. The growth modules allow plants to grow horizontally, and also provide a non-drip watering system for watering the plants.

    Abstract: An automated storage and retrieval system includes a track system forming a grid pattern in the horizontal plane including a plurality of adjacent grid cells, each grid cell including a grid opening. A plurality of storage columns is located beneath the track system. Each storage column is located vertically below a grid opening and arranged to store a stack of storage containers. A container handling vehicle for lifting at least one storage container stacked in the stacks is configured to move laterally on the track system above the storage columns to access the storage containers via the grid openings. The container handling vehicle includes a lower part including at least one storage compartment for storing a storage container, an upper part arranged vertically above the lower part, a wheel assembly for guiding the container handling vehicle along the track system and a power supply compartment for accommodating a replaceable power supply; a replaceable power supply for accommodation in the power supply compartment, having a power supply charging connection. A charging station for charging of the replaceable power supply includes a charging connection configured to create an electrical connection with the power supply charging connection and a power supply support for releasably supporting the power supply during charging. The power supply compartment is arranged in the upper part of the container handling vehicle and is configured to receive the replaceable power supply via an opening.

    Abstract: A coupler includes a coupler frame, a handle, a first container gripper paddle, a second container gripper paddle, and an actuator system. The coupler frame includes a lower coupler frame face and an upper coupler frame face. The handle protrudes from the upper coupler frame face for releasable connection to an operative end of a robotic picking device. The first and second container gripper paddles are connected to the coupler frame for releasable connection to a container and arranged at opposite sides a centre plane oriented perpendicular to the lower coupler frame face. Each of the container gripper paddles includes a gripper protrusion located below the lower coupler frame face for insertion into a corresponding recess or aperture accessible within an inner volume of the container. The actuator system is for displacing the first and second container gripper paddles in opposite directions from the centre plane until the gripper protrusions have been removably inserted into the corresponding recesses or apertures.
