Abstract:
A method for dynamically personalizing transportation in a vehicle comprises the steps of providing a vehicle including a messaging device for displaying messages, providing a central dispatch system for managing passenger allocation to the vehicle, receiving passenger specific information at the dispatch system, providing data relating to the passenger specific information from the dispatch system to the messaging device, and selecting and displaying a message based on the data for display. Further, a method is disclosed in which messages depending on passenger specific information, and messages independent form passenger specific information are selected and displayed. The messaging device is in communication with a video display unit or with a printing device for displaying messages received.
Abstract:
In accordance with a first aspect of the present invention, a method of customizing the browsing experience of a user of a Web site comprised of a plurality of Web pages is provided. Each Web page is indexed using at least one coding system. A user record for each user is maintained on the Web site, which contains personal information of the user coded in accordance with said coding system. The user's browsing experience on the site may thus be readily customized using the user's personal information via code comparison. In accordance with a second aspect of the present invention, a method of ensuring the privacy of the user's personal information is provided through use of a unique Universal Anonymous Identifier (UAI) assigned to each user by a third party registration authority.
Abstract:
A medical simulation apparatus may include a housing, a vessel simulating tube carried by the housing, a liquid reservoir carried by the housing, a pump carried by the housing for circulating the liquid from the liquid reservoir through the vessel simulating tube, and an access port in fluid connection with the vessel simulating tube for receiving an instrument therein. The pump may be a pulsatile pump for providing a pulsed liquid circulation simulating blood flow. Also, the vessel simulating tube may include an elastic material (e.g., silicone) expandable with the pulsed liquid circulation. Furthermore, the vessel simulating tube may include a portion having an enlarged diameter simulating an aneurysm, or it may include a portion having a restriction simulating a stenosis. Alternately, the vessel simulating tube may include a portion simulating an arteriovenous malformation or tumor.
Abstract:
In a keypad device of the type that includes a unique output function as a consequence of physically adjacent keys or key equivalents operated simultaneously: a continuous elastomeric material with integrally molded key cap structure identifying individual and combination keys of minimal height differential with a sealed cursor control device placed with the key matrix a indentation in a non-exposed side near the center of a plurality of individually actuatable key switches; individual key switches in excess of the number of individual key caps.
Abstract:
A clip-on tape dispenser for reeled tape comprises, in integral configuration, a middle section, at least portions of which are designed to ride on the outermost turn of the reeled tape, and two flank sections located on either side of the middle section in planes substantially perpendicular to the general plane containing the middle section, and a cutting section being part of and folded up from the middle section and having a tape-cutting edge. The dispenser has at least one tooth-like member provided in at least one of the flanks and configured in such a way as to permit the dispenser to be easily clipped onto the reeled tape in a substantially radial direction thereto and to be slid thereon in a circumferential direction, but to oppose dislodgement of the dispenser in the substantially radial direction.
