    Abstract: A vehicular rear backup vision system includes a rear backup camera and a display device including a video display screen disposed in an interior cabin of the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. Upon initial ignition on of the vehicle that commences a new ignition cycle of the vehicle, the rear backup camera is electrically powered. After engine startup of the vehicle, the vehicular rear backup vision system displays on the video display screen rear backup video images derived solely from image data captured by the rear backup camera no later than 2 seconds after the driver of the vehicle first shifts a vehicle transmission of the vehicle into reverse gear to commence a first backup event. The rear backup camera remains electrically powered at least until the first backup event is completed.

    Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a forward viewing camera disposed at an in-cabin side of a windshield of a vehicle and viewing forward of the vehicle. Road curvature of a road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined responsive at least in part to processing by an image processor of image data captured by the camera. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, a traffic lane of the road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, another vehicle present on the road and forward of the vehicle may be detected. Responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data, the system may determine that the detected other vehicle is travelling in a traffic lane to the left of the traffic lane along which the vehicle is traveling.

    Abstract: A forward sensing system for a vehicle includes a radar sensor and an image sensor housed in a self-contained unit disposed behind and attached at the vehicle windshield. A control includes an image processor that has an image processing chip that processes image data captured by the image sensor to detect an object of interest present exterior of the vehicle. The control, responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data and to sensing by the radar sensor, determines that a potentially hazardous condition exists in a path of forward travel of the vehicle. The radar sensor and the image sensor collaborate in a way that enhances sensing capability of the sensing system. Responsive to determination that the object of interest is in the path of forward travel of the vehicle, the control may at least in part control a driver assistance system of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular scalable integrated control system includes a plurality of cameras having respective fields of view exterior of the vehicle. Image data captured by the cameras is processed by an image processor of a vehicular scalable integrated control unit. A display screen for displaying video images derived, at least in part, from captured image data. The system is operable to fuse captured image data with data captured by a radar device, an ultrasonic sensor and/or an infrared sensor. The system is part of an overall active safety sensing system, which includes fusion of outputs from a plurality of sensing devices to achieve environmental awareness at and surrounding the vehicle. The overall active safety sensing system is operable to at least one of (i) at least partially control the vehicle as the vehicle is driven along a road and (ii) provide alert warnings to a driver of the vehicle.
