Abstract:
This invention relates to certain aryl alkyl acid compounds, compositions, and methods for treating or preventing obesity and related diseases.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an immunogenic conjugate comprising a carrier molecule coupled to an autoinducer of a Gram negative bacteria The immunogenic conjugate, when combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, forms a suitable vaccine for mammals to prevent infection by the Gram negative bacteria The immunogenic conjugate is also used to raise and subsequently isolate antibodies or binding portions thereof which are capable of recognizing and binding to the autoinducer. The antibodies or binding portions thereof are utilized in a method of treating infections, a method of inhibiting autoinducer activity, and in diagnostic assays which detect the presence of autoinducers or autoinducer antagonists in fluid or tissue samples.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel compounds and processes for their preparation, methods of treating diseases, particularly hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer, comprising administering said compounds, and methods of making pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment or prevention of disorders, particularly hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel pyrimidothienoindazoles of formula (I) processes for their preparation and their use for preparing medicaments for the treatment or prophylaxis of disorders, especially of hyperproliferative disorders.
Abstract:
Width enlargement means is described, which is adapted to be attached to a joist end to adapt the latter for use with a joist hanger having a joist receiving socket with diverging side cheeks therein. When attached, the cross section shape of the end of the joist becomes trapezoidal so as to form a wedge. The inclined faces engage the diverging side cheeks of the socket thereby to provide lateral support for the joist end when fitted in the joist receiving socket. One form of enlargement means for a conventional rectangular cross section joist comprises triangular cross section fillets, which are adapted to be fitted to the opposite faces of the end of a the joist. Alternatively it may comprise a wedge shaped member having a central slot into which the end of the joist is fitted. Where the joist has an I-beam cross section, fillets are secured to opposite faces of the central web of the I-beam, or the end of the latter is fitted into a slot in a slotted wedge. Alternatively at least one metal structure is adapted to be fitted to one end of the joist, and the outer faces of the metal structure or structures are spaced by a greater distance in the region of the upper edge of the I-beam section than they are in the region of the lower edge thereof. Where the joist has an I-beam cross section the metal structure(s) may be attached to the web or the upper or lower rails, or all three. However formed the included angle between the inclined faces of the enlargement means whether formed by fillets or a wedge shaped member, or one or more metal structures, is substantially the same as, but not greater, than that between the diverging cheeks of the joist hanger socket in which the joist is to be received in use.
Abstract:
A battery venting system that is useful for cordless power tools. The system can include a cell that may have a sleeve with a plurality of apertures surrounding a peripheral side face of the cell to enhance heat dissipation from the cell. A plurality of cells may be electrically connected to form a cell pack. A carrier includes an upper carrier and a lower carrier to sandwich a plurality of cells that are aligned parallel to each other. The carriers include at least one vent hole that are aligned with a gap formed from adjacent cells to define an elongated fluid flow path. A charger may be provided to receive a housing containing the carrier and may be provided with a fan to direct a flow into the fluid flow path.
Abstract:
Either an endoscopic or open bipolar forceps includes a flexible, generally tubular insulating boot for insulating patient tissue, while not impeding motion of the jaw members. The jaw members are movable from an open to a closed position and the jaw members are connected to a source of electrosurgical energy such that the jaw members are capable of conducting energy through tissue held therebetween to effect a tissue seal. A knife assembly may be included that allows a user to selectively divide tissue upon actuation thereof. The insulating boot may be made from a viscoelastic, elastomeric or flexible material suitable for use with a sterilization process including ethylene oxide.
Abstract:
A chainsaw tensioner that includes set of bevel gears. The input gear is connected to a knob to be operated to the user. Torque from the input knob is transferred to an output bevel gear that is connected to a threaded rod. A plate travels about the threaded rod and is mated with the chain guide bar. When the rod is rotated, the plate and the chain guide bar translate linearly to either tighten or loosen the chain around the periphery of the chain guide bar depending on the direction of rotation of the knob.
Abstract:
A vehicle for breaking material is disclosed. The vehicle includes: an elongate vehicle frame; a feeder having a feed end portion and a discharge end portion, wherein the feeder is configured to convey the material from the feed end portion to the discharge end portion; and a material breaker supported via the vehicle frame with a feed end portion that is downstream from the discharge end portion of the feeder. The material breaker includes: a platform configured to support the material received from the feeder, at least one breaker element configured to move towards the platform and contact at least a portion of the material received from the feeder and supported by the platform, wherein movement of the at least one breaker element towards the platform is assisted, at least in part, by gravitational forces, and a lifting mechanism configured to move the at least one breaker element away from the platform.
Abstract:
An ophthalmic lens package comprises a shell having an internal cavity accessible through an opening in the shell and a drainage member that divides the internal chamber into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The drainage member is permeable to aqueous liquids and is arranged to allow drainage of liquid from the upper chamber to the lower chamber. This arrangement of the ophthalmic lens package allows the consumer to retrieve the lens from the upper chamber without handling any significant amount of saline solution.
