Abstract:
A particulate filtration system including a frustoconical-shaped filtration element, a housing enclosing the filtration element and coaxial therewith, an inlet, and an outlet. The filtration element has a closed first end and a larger oppositely-disposed open second end. The housing has a first closed end, a larger oppositely-disposed open second end, and a frustoconical-shaped wall therebetween and surrounding the filtration element. An annular-shaped passage is defined by and between the filtration element and the housing. The inlet is located at the second end of the housing and is fluidically connected to the annular-shaped passage. The outlet is located at the second end of the filtration element and coaxial with the inlet. The outlet defines an outlet passage with a frustoconical or arcuate shape and a cross-sectional area that decreases along the flow path in a direction away from the filtration element.
Abstract:
According to the present disclosure an air cleaner and air filter cartridge arrangement is provided. The air filter cartridge is a removable and replaceable cartridge for use in the air cleaner. The cartridge includes, among other things, an end cap having a preferred outwardly directed radial seal and a groove. The air cleaner includes a housing with a stabilizing ring projecting into an interior, positioned to project at least partially into the groove of the filter cartridge, when the filter cartridge is mounted for use. Methods of assembly and installation are described.
Abstract:
A cleaning system for a gas turbine inlet filter mounted to a tubesheet. The filter defines an upstream side at which particulates are separated from a fluid stream passing through the filter and a downstream side substantially free of the particulates. The cleaning system includes a blowpipe for supplying a pressurized fluid. A one-piece nozzle is made from a tubular member having a substantially constant cross-section extending along the length of the member. The nozzle is permanently attached to the blowpipe at a first end portion. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the blowpipe to direct a cleaning pulse of the pressurized fluid from a second opposite end portion into the downstream side of the filter to dislodge particulates into the upstream side. An aspirator is formed in the nozzle at an upstream location spaced from the second end portion of the nozzle. The aspirator enables an additional volume of fluid to be delivered from the second end portion of the nozzle than is delivered from the blowpipe to the first end portion of the nozzle. A diffuser is fixed to at least one of the blowpipe and the nozzle. The diffuser directs a portion of the cleaning pulse to a proximal portion of the filter located adjacent to the tubesheet.
Abstract:
An inlet air filtration system includes a module configured to receive a gas stream and a plurality of filters supported by the module and configured to direct the gas stream. Each of the plurality of filters is configured to capture particulate matter contained in the gas stream. The system further includes a cleaning assembly movable amongst the filters. The cleaning assembly includes a blow pipe configured to receive a flow of gas, a blow nozzle, and a valve connected to the blow nozzle to blow the flow of gas across the filters to release the captured particulate matter. A method of cleaning an inlet air filtration system includes moving a cleaning assembly amongst the filters to clean the filters.
Abstract:
A filter element has first and second subelements providing increased media providing improved performance and packaging options. The first and second subelements provide first and second flow paths in parallel with each other along designated flow path portions.
Abstract:
A particle filter for a fuel cell coolant is disclosed. The particle filter includes a filter housing having an upstream end for receiving the coolant and a downstream end for discharging the coolant. A filter element is provided in the filter housing. A pressure gauge is operably connected to the upstream end of the filter housing for measuring and indicating a pressure of the coolant corresponding to a degree of blockage of the filter element.
Abstract:
A high performance automotive air filter is produced by injection molding a base piece and a cap piece, applying a layer of adhesive to the base and cap pieces, placing the base and cap pieces on the bottom and top edges of the air filter medium, and curing the adhesive layers to adhere the base and cap to the filter media.
Abstract:
The disclosure concern air cleaners. Preferred air cleaners are shown which include a housing and a removable and replacement primary filter cartridge. Optional and advantageous features are shown. The preferred primary filter cartridge is conical in shape. A preferred optional safety or secondary filter cartridge is shown. Preferred methods of assembly and use are provided.
Abstract:
A filter element for removing contaminant from a dirty stream, such as an air filter element for removing and/or coalescing liquid contaminant from an incoming dirty air stream. The filter element has a polygonal shape, with radiused corners. Such a shape mitigates pleat bunching, reduces airflow resistance, thus increasing in the volume of incoming air when compared to conventional cylindrical filter elements having the same surface area and pleat heights. Examples of polygonal shapes include rectangular (including square) and triangular. The filter element may be tapered.
Abstract:
A bagless vacuum cleaner system dustcup assembly and method for using said system with a vacuum cleaner apparatus to separate dirt from a mixture of dirt and air inducted into said vacuum cleaner apparatus. Said bagless vacuum cleaner system generally comprises a dustcup assembly, a handle assembly and a motor intake adaptor.
