Abstract:
A low profile surface mount electromagnetic component such as a power inductor includes first and second core pieces arranged side by side and having longitudinal side walls facing one another. A preformed coil winding includes vertical legs that are received in vertical slots of the facing longitudinal sidewalls of the component. Inset depressed sections are provided in the top surfaces of the first and second magnetic core pieces and receive a main winding section of the coil winding. Surface mount terminal tabs extend on the bottom surfaces of both the first and second magnetic core pieces.
Abstract:
Techniques for detecting vacuum loss in a vacuum interrupter are disclosed. For example, a sensing system of a vacuum interrupter includes a sensor including a material that oxidizes in the presence of air and is at least partially positioned in an evacuated space of a vacuum interrupter, the sensor being configured to produce an indication of impedance of the material; and a control system coupled to the sensor, the control system including an electronic processor and an electronic storage that stores instructions that, when executed, cause the electronic processor to access an indication of impedance produced by the sensor, determine a measure of impedance of the material of the sensor based on the accessed indication of impedance, and determine a condition of the evacuated space based on the determined measure of impedance.
Abstract:
Electrochemical energy storage devices such as electric double layer capacitors include flexible metal contact current collectors establishing electrical contact with a conductive housing and a conductive cover. The flexible current collector simplifies manufacturing of the device and avoids laser welding on the conductive housing. The manufacture devices are operable with a reduced direct current resistance by virtue of the flexible current collector
Abstract:
A lateral sway brace for a service pipe is disclosed. The lateral sway brace can include a pipe cradle portion configured to interface with a service pipe, the pipe cradle portion being supportable by a brace member coupled to a building support. The lateral sway brace can also include a securing portion configured to secure the service pipe to the pipe cradle portion. The pipe cradle portion can position the service pipe such that a longitudinal axis of the brace member supporting the service pipe intersects or is tangent to the service pipe.
Abstract:
A lateral sway brace is disclosed for bracing a service pipe disposed at a predetermined distance from a building support. The lateral sway brace can include a pipe coupler securable to the service pipe and a brace coupler securable to a brace member. The brace coupler and the pipe coupler are operable with the brace member to laterally support the service pipe from the building support. The brace member has a length less than the predetermined distance between the service pipe and the building support. The lateral sway brace can also include a length adjustment mechanism operable with the brace coupler and facilitating a variable length to accommodate a difference between the predetermined distance between the service pipe and the building support and the length of the brace member.
Abstract:
A hanger bar assembly for a recessed luminaire is disclosed. The hanger bar assembly includes a first hanger bar member having a first attachment structure disposed on an end thereof, and a second hanger bar member having a second attachment structure disposed on an end thereof, the second hanger bar member being adjacent to the first hanger bar member. The first and the second attachment structures each include a first wall having a first fastener aperture and a second wall having a second fastener aperture, the first and second fastener apertures being formed about a common central longitudinal axis.
Abstract:
A fastener nut for securing a part to channel framing defining at least one internal, generally T-shaped track extending lengthwise of the channel framing. The fastener nut includes a nut body, and first and second wings extending longitudinally outward from respective first and second longitudinal ends of the body. The first and second wings having respective terminal ends defining an effective wing span therebetween that is greater than the length of the body such that at least a portion of the fastener nut has a generally T-shaped side profile. The fastener nut is insertable in the generally T-shaped track of the channel framing to allow the fastener nut to slide along the length of the channel framing and to restrict transverse movement of the fastener nut in the interior, relative to length of the framing, for use in positioning the fastener nut along the channel framing.
Abstract:
An electrochemical energy storage device includes a housing, at least one energy storage element in the housing and operable with an electrolyte, a cap coupled to the housing, at least one electrolyte impregnation hole formed in the cap, and a first terminal lug attachable to the cap via the electrolyte impregnation hole.
Abstract:
A recessed light fixture includes an LED module, which includes a single LED package that is configured to generate all light emitted by the recessed light fixture. For example, the LED package can include multiple LEDs mounted to a common substrate. The LED package can be coupled to a heat sink for dissipating heat from the LEDs. The heat sink can include a core member. A reflector housing may be coupled to the heat sink and configured to receive a reflector. The reflector can have any geometry, such as a bell-shaped geometry including two radii of curvature that join together at an inflection point. An optic coupler can be coupled to the reflector housing and configured to cover electrical connections at the substrate and to guide light emitted by the LED package.
Abstract:
A fitting for channel framing includes a coupling component and a washer secured to the coupling component. At least a portion of the coupling component has a generally dovetail cross-sectional shape configured for reception in an external fitting groove of the channel framing. The washer engages outside surfaces of a second side of the channel framing at opposite sides of the external fitting groove when the coupling component is received in the external fitting groove.
