Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards analyzing content to adjust audio attributes of an audio component of the content to improve a user's audible perception of the content. The content is analyzed to determine an accent of an individual speaking in the content, an ethnic origin or gender of the individual, a genre of the content, or user preferences of the user, or some combination thereof. One or more of these determined characteristics is utilized to select and adjust at least one audio attribute of the audio component of the content, e.g., the volume, base, or treble. The audio component of the content is then output to at least one audio output device based on the at least one adjusted audio attribute. These audio attribute adjustments can improve a user's perception of the audio component, which can improve the user's understanding of the individual speaking in the content.

Abstract: A media device may be configured for receiving data from one or more satellites. The media device may include one or more processors and one or more storage devices. A first tuner of a media device may tune to a first data stream that came from a first satellite transponder. A second tuner of the media device may tune to a second data stream that came from a second satellite transponder. The first data stream and the second data stream may be derived from source data based at least in part on a data distribution scheme. Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards analyzing content, such as Timed Text data that separately accompanies program content, to detect a future program. Abstract: Drone-based wireless communications systems are provided, as are methods carried-out by such wireless communications systems. In one embodiment, the wireless communications system includes a Satellite Signal Transformation (SST) unit and a plurality of aerial network drones, which can be deployed over a designated geographical area to form a multi-drone network thereover. During operation, the SST unit transmits a network source signal, which contains content extracted from a satellite signal. The multi-drone network receives the network source signal, disseminates drone relay signals containing the content through the multi-drone network, and broadcastings user device signals containing the content over the designated geographical area. In embodiments, the multi-drone network may broadcast multiple different types of user device signals for reception by various different types of user devices located within the designated geographical area, such as an arear containing communication infrastructure disabled by a natural disaster, a hostile attack, or other catastrophic event.

Abstract: A set-top-box is provided for receiving broadcast media content and processing said content for presentation on a display. A processor of the STB is configured to receive, from between a router circuit and a modem circuit, data packets sent over a local network. The data packets are sent to or from a local internet connected user device via the router as part of the local network. The processor is further configured to analyze the received data packets to determine whether they contain undesired content and, if so, to control the display to present an indicator containing at least one property of the detected undesired content. Because the STB is coupled to a display that tends to be the main display in a household, the indicator is more likely to be seen and acted on by a responsible party, thus parents will be more easily able to monitor the activity of their children when they use user devices to access the internet over a home network.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a television monitor wall mount is provided that allows a television monitor to be mounted flush against a wall, such as directly against the SHEETROCK, drywall or other wall surface material. When attached behind a wall to a wall stud, the television wall mount serves as a bracket to support the weight of the television monitor that is located on the front side of the wall. The weight of the television monitor is supported by bolts which extend through a mounting plate surface behind the wall and through the wall and into the back of the television monitor that is on the front side of the wall. When tightened, these bolts secure the back of the television monitor flush against the first front side of the wall.

Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for automatically selecting television channels for display on one or more televisions based on the viewing preferences of the viewers. The viewers can enter their viewing preferences in a database through a user interface that a controller can access. The controller can receive, for a premises (e.g., a sports bar), a list of viewers. Based on the viewing preferences of the list of viewers, the controller can determine a single or a ranked list of television channels for display on the televisions. If there are multiple televisions, the controller can assign each of the televisions a television channel from the ranked list based on the ranking. The controller can send an instruction to the STB controlling the television(s) to set the assigned television channel to the assigned television.

Abstract: An approach for through-hole component soldering for a PCB, and a resulting PCB assembly, that eliminates protruding solder joints, is provided. The approach comprises back-drilling, from a bottom surface of a PCB, one or more through-holes, wherein each back-drilled through-hole is back-drilled to a depth partially through the PCB and at a diameter that is larger than the diameter of the through hole. Solder paste is applied to the PCB. The components are placed on the PCB, inserting each pin into a corresponding through-hole. The PCB is passed through a solder process, whereby, within each through-hole having a component pin inserted therein, the solder paste is wicked into the through-hole, and forms a solder joint with the respective pin. Each solder joint of a back-drilled through-hole is situated within the through-hole in a manner whereby the solder joint does not protrude beyond the bottom surface of the PCB.
