Abstract:
A data transmission system for providing from a coarse analog signal representative of the cumulative angular position of a shaft, and from a fine analog signal representative of the noncumulative angular position of the shaft, a digital output indication of the cumulative position of the shaft. The coarse analog signal is utilized to provide the most significant digits and the fine analog signal is utilized to provide the least significant digits of the output display. Error correction means responsive to coarse and fine analog signals are provided for modifying the most significant portion of the output display to compensate for errors therein which may occur as a result of lower resolution in the encoder used to generate the coarse signal.
Abstract:
A locomotive cab heater including a housing having a fan mounted therein for pumping air over a bank of electric heating panels. A blower may also be provided to give a defrosting action. The blower pumps air to defroster conduits for defrosting windows in the locomotive cab while the fan pumps heated air into the cab for maintaining a heated temperature for the operating personnel. Control means permits plural temperature levels to be provided and to reduce the power level in the electric heating panels in the event the blower and fan fail.
Abstract:
An intrinsically safe hydraulic valve including a first stage in the form of pilot valves and a second stage in the form of a poppet valve assembly. The poppet valve assembly includes first and second pairs of piston operated poppets which, when selectively operated, control the drive direction of a fluid motor. The pilot valves are electrically controlled through an electromagnet arrangement wherein the valves are closed when the electromagnet is de-energized and opened when it is energized. When the pilot valves are selectively opened, they apply a pilot pressure to one or the other of the pairs of piston operated poppets to drive the fluid motor.
Abstract:
A valve for inline duct work including a pilot valve for controlling operation of the valve, together with pilot circuitry which enables the valve to be closed on command in the event of a duct pressure reversal.
Abstract:
A door operator for a vehicle wherein resilient means couples the drive arm to the door to control the force applied by the door operator throughout the door closing cycle. The operator is compact and mountable in the side wall of the vehicle above the floor and includes an independent locking system, together with an emergency opening assembly.
Abstract:
A signal apparatus for use with the moving doors of transit vehicles or the like and which preferably takes the form of an electronic door chime means simulating the tonal quality of electromechanical chimes by using an arrangement of solid state components and thereby eliminating the use of moving parts. The door chime means includes first and second switching means, first and second decaying network responding to the switching means and driving first and second tone generators, and a time delay means between the first and second switching means to sequentially trigger the tone generators.
Abstract:
Apparatus for determining whether an axle on a railroad vehicle is locked and for determining axle speed including a permanent magnet and coil assembly fixed to a bearing box and arranged within a splined hole of the axle, and a voltage or frequency responsive indicator connected to the coil.
