Abstract:
An optimum pathway to data stored on a data storage system having N storage devices and more than N pathways is determined in response to a read request for the data. A sorter separates the read request into an appropriate segment size for sending to the storage devices of the data storage system. An assigner generates the set of read permutations satisfying the read request. A read permutation is selected based on a metric. A collector receives the requested data from the N storage devices in response to the selected read permutation being sent to the storage devices.
Abstract:
The invention provides novel pyridines, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such pyridines, and the use of such compositions in treating injured mammalian nerve tissue, including but not limited to an injured spinal cord, in one embodiment, the compounds, compositions, and methods of the instant invention treat a mammalian nerve tissue injury by restoring action potential or nerve impulse conduction through a nerve tissue lesion. Significantly, in vivo application of compounds of the instant invention established, on the basis of SSEP testing, that the compounds provide longer lasting effects at lower concentrations than comparable treatment with the known agent 4-aminopyridine (4 AP).
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to at least one bifunctional vasodilator composition, and methods for making and using the same. Some embodiments may relate to functionalizing, with nitric oxide, a vasodilator having a secondary amine, thereby forming a diazeniumdiolate derivative of the vasodilator. Such embodiments may be capable of decomposing into nitric oxide and the original vasodilator, or some form thereof having the same or similar vasodilatory properties.
Abstract:
A data storage subsystem that includes three data storage units, three check storage units, and an array controller coupled to the three data and three check storage units can tolerate failure of any three data and check storage units failures can be occur before data stored on the data storage subsystem is lost. Information is stored on the data storage subsystem as a symmetric Maximum Distance Separation code, such as a Winograd code, a Reed Solomon code, an EVENODD code or a derivative of an EVENODD code. The array controller determines the contents of the check storage units so that any three erasures of the data storage units and the check storage units can be corrected by the array controller. The array controller updates a block of data contained in any one of the data storage units and the check storage units using only six IO operations.
Abstract:
A system for enhancing advertising revenue in a mobile communications environment includes a mobile communications device having a display screen and a wireless Internet enabled interface configured to facilitate the display of graphics on the display screen, and a natural language search service configured to receive a query from a user via the mobile device in natural language with service returning the direct answer and not links. In response to a user query from a mobile device the search service returns an appropriate response to the user via the mobile device. The response integrates an answer to the user's query with relevant advertisements in a single or same display image. The advertisements can include graphic and/or multimedia information; the presentation of such graphic information to the user, together with the unique targeting of ads to answers on the display screen, supports high CPM (cost per thousand views) as desired by advertisers sponsoring the advertisement.
Abstract:
An oil containing starch granule is provided comprising: (a) a starch to form an effective matrix for said granule; (b) a perfume oil comprising ingredients having a calculated Clog P of at least 3; and (c) an effective amount of an organic compound as herein described for inhibiting the migration of said oil to the surface of said starch granule.

Abstract:
A vehicle drum-in-hat disc brake assembly comprises: a shield adapted to be secured to an axle flange; a drum brake portion carried by the shield; an abutment tower operatively disposed with the drum brake portion; and a caliper bracket assembly formed separate from the abutment tower and adapted to be secured to the axle flange; wherein at least one first fastener is provided for securing the abutment tower to the caliper bracket assembly and a plurality of second fasteners are provided for securing the caliper bracket assembly and the shield to the axle flange.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to process for the preparation of metabolites as well as the parent compound of N-(2-chloro-6-methylphenyl)-2-[[6-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazinyl]-2-methyl-4-pyrimidinyl] amino]-5-thiazolecarboxamide, the compound of formula (I).
Abstract:
An emergency eyewash station is disclosed. The emergency eyewash station includes a reservoir containing an eyewash fluid and a mechanism for dispensing the eyewash fluid from the reservoir to wash an injured person's eyes. An expandable container is configured and arranged to collect used eyewash fluid after the eyewash fluid has been dispensed to wash the injured person's eyes. The station can be further enhanced by equipping the expandable container with a pair of straps configured to compress the reservoir thereby providing a gravity assist to dispensing eyewash fluid.
