Abstract:
Acicular or platy titanium suboxides, expressed by the general formula, TiOx where x is a positive real number less than 2, have a geometric anisotropy as an aspect ratio in the acicular or platy form of 3 or more, a higher specific surface area and a greater geometric anisotropy even in comparison on the basis of the same degree of reduction, and are capable of retaining their native configurations during the reduction. The resin mediums incorporated with the acicular or platy titanium suboxides have good electric properties, and a higher mechanical strength.

A polyarlene sulfide resin molding composition suitable for molding and providing a molded article having excellent surface appearance and improved mechanical properties comprises(A) 100 parts by weight of a polyarylene sulfide resin and(B) 5 to 150 parts by weight of "white" mica (muscovite mica).
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire of a low profile is disclosed which is constructed with a a cap tread, a sidewall and a tie rubber interposed therebetween. The cap tread is formed from a rubber composition comprised of a styrene-butadiene rubber of a high styrene content. The tie rubber comprises a specified sum of a syndiotatic-1,2-butadiene rubber and a cis-1,4-butadiene rubber. Use of the tie rubber is conductive to sufficient adhesion of the tread to the sidewall without shoulder blistering after vulcanization.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a filler-containing thermoplastic resin composition which is well balanced in dimensinoal stability, rigidity, heat resistance and impact strength. This composition comprises: (I) 100 parts by weight of a resin comprising 5-95% by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin, a mixture of a polyphenylene ether resin and a styrene resin or a graft polymer of a polyphenylene ether resin and styrene and 95-5% by weight of polyamide resin, (II) 0-50 parts by weight of a rubber-like material, (III) 2.0-50 parts by weight of an inorganic filler having an average particle size of 5.0.mu. or less and/or a glass fiber and (IV) 0.01-10 parts by weight of at least one compatibilizing agent which improves compatibility between the polyphenylene resin and the polyamide resin. Talc is preferred as the inorganic filler.
Abstract:
A composition comprising a thermoplastic electroconductive resin matrix containing a multiplicity of reinforcing carbonaceous fibers, the improvement which comprises said reinforcing fibers comprising resilient shaped reforming elongatable non-linear non-flammable conductive carbonaceous fibers, the fibers having a reversible deflection ratio of greater than 1.2:1 and an aspect ratio (1/d) of greater than 10:1.
Abstract:
An improved electroconductive coating material containing electroconductive organic fiber of 10.sup.2 .OMEGA..multidot.cm or lower in specific resistance, and preferably the organic fiber is 0.1 to 5 mm in length and 2 to 500 in aspect ratio. The coating material of the invention can form an improved uniform coating film which is excellent in electroconductivity and anti-static property, and it is hardly peeled off with maintaining its advantageous properties for a long period of time.
Abstract:
Molded polyurethanes and/or polyureas are filled with a mica filler having a thickness of less than about 1.5 micrometer and an aspect ratio of greater than about 40. The surfaces of these compositions exhibit a distinctness of image when painted that is within about 10 DOI units of the distinctness of image of similarly painted steel. The compositions also exhibit improved physical properties.
