Abstract:
Easily applicable adhesive sheet which can be easily applied neatly in good adhesion with easy air removal at the time of application to an adherent and a producing method thereof are provided. An easily applicable adhesive sheet having, on the surface of a substrate, an adhesive layer in which a plurality of spherical protrusions are disposed and an air flow channel is formed between adjacent protrusions, and the spherical protrusion has a diameter of from 50 to 300 μm, a height of from 10 to 50 μm and a distance between the adjacent protrusions of from 0 to 100 μm, and a method for producing an easily applicable adhesive sheet as described above, by applying an adhesive layer formed on a shape-transfer face of a release liner to a substrate.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an adhesive article which provides air egress. Air egress is provided by supplying a route, such as areas of no initial adhesion for the air to flow out from under the construction. The invention relates to an adhesive article comprising a facestock having a front surface and a back surface, a continuous layer of adhesive having an upper surface and a lower surface wherein the upper surface of the adhesive layer is adhered to the back surface of the facestock, and a plurality of spaced-apart non-adhesive material which is in contact with the lower surface of the adhesive layer. These articles have usefulness as industrial graphics images, as well as decorative coverings, etc. The articles provide air egress and optionally repositionability and slideability.
Abstract:
An optical film laminate which is less apt to have adhesive deficiencies or cause adhesive soils. The optical film laminate comprises an optical film layer 1 and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer 3, wherein non-tacky powders 5 are adhered to edge surfaces of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer.
Abstract:
A tire label with an integral barrier layer. The barrier layer is formed of polyester film and is 3 to 15 microns thick. The barrier layer may be for example PET. The label may be formed on printable plastic film stock preferably coated with a thickness of between 0.001 to 0.004 inches of a pressure sensitive rubber based adhesive. The adhesive may be applied in a pattern on the film stock leaving a pull-tab to allow easy removal of the label. When adhered to a tire sidewall the label is oriented with the pull-tab in the tread direction so that the tire mounting and testing procedures do not snare it. Machine-readable data can be printed on the label in a machine-readable 2D data matrix symbology alongside a human readable ascii serial number. The label can also have an integral RFID tag.
Abstract:
A high speed embossing and adhesive printing process using a first and second embossing rolls having complementary embossing pattern disposed thereon. A web of sheet material is placed in contact with an adhesive applied to the first embossing roll. The adhesive forms an adhesive pattern on the web of sheet material in register with the first embossing pattern of the first embossing roll. The web of sheet material is then passed between the first and second embossing rolls which emboss the web with the complementary embossing pattern.
Abstract:
Adhesive constructions are provided. In general, the adhesive constructions include first and second fields pressure sensitive adhesive. The amount of adhesive or coverage of adhesive in the two fields differs to advantage. A particular preferred adhesive construction is provided which includes a flexible substrate defining an outer perimeter edge and having on a side thereof an adhesive pattern which includes at least two adhesive fields, preferably arranged as: an outer perimeter adhesive field adjacent to the outer perimeter edge; and an inner adhesive field spaced from the outer perimeter edge and completely surrounded by the outer perimeter adhesive field. The preferred outer perimeter adhesive field is a discontinuous pattern of adhesive with adhesive covering no more than 80% of an area of a portion of the side of the flexible substrate defined by the outer perimeter adhesive field; and, the preferred inner adhesive field has adhesive covering at least 90% of an area of a portion of the side of the flexible substrate defined by the inner adhesive field, preferably in a continuous pattern. In typical preferred adhesive constructions, the inner adhesive field surrounds an adhesive-free region. Also provided are a preferred roll stock with such an adhesive construction secured to it, and preferred methods for constructing such arrangements.
Abstract:
Two types of bonding layers having different chemical components and different chemical and/or physical properties are alternately formed in a bonding layer forming region. An exemplary combination of the two types of bonding layers includes a bonding layer which is resistant to high-temperature environments and another bonding layer which is resistant to impacts. A product having such a bonding surface structure is resistant to both high-temperature environments and impacts and has a highly stable bonding structure.
Abstract:
The pressure sensitive transferring adhesive tape which transfers adhesive agent layer alone to an adherent is widely well-known, and in this case, the adhesive agent layer applied to a supporter has to be cut after it has been transferred to the adherent. However, since the adhesive layer is coated continuously, this type has a weak point that the adhesive agent layer causes problem of stringiness and stretching and cannot be cut smoothly. In the present invention, above mentioned weak points are dissolved by coating adhesive agent layer by discontinuous island shape pattern or by making the surface of adhesive agent layer to have concave and convex shape.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a film comprising a backing and an adhesive. The backing comprises a base layer comprising a first major surface and a second major surface, and at least two rails, each rail comprising a tip surface. The rails extend from the second major surface of the base layer and define micro-channels therebetween. The micro-channels comprise a channel surface. The film comprises an adhesive on the tip surface of the rails. At least a portion of the channel surface is substantially free of adhesive. The present invention also relates to a method of protecting an automobile comprising preparing an automobile surface for application of a protective tape and applying a protective tape to the automobile surface. The present invention is additionally related to a method of manufacturing a protective film.
Abstract:
