    Abstract: Provided are embodiments for a system and a method for performing passenger grouping in an elevator system. Embodiments includes receiving a call request placed by a user, and receiving user condition data for a user obtained using one or more sensors operably coupled to the controller. Embodiments also include calculating a final exposure rating based at least in part on the user condition data, and assigning the user to an elevator based at least in part on the final exposure rating.

    Abstract: An illustrative example embodiment of an elevator passenger interface configuration device includes a configuration input that allows an authorized individual to input an indication of a desired functionality of at least one selected elevator passenger interface that is configured to receive audible passenger input. A processor determines at least one operation executable by the elevator passenger interface to provide the desired functionality based on the indication of the desired functionality.     Abstract: An elevator car is provided and includes a car frame which translates along a guide rail during ascents or descents, a safety disposed along the car frame to selectively engage with the guide rail to selectively permit vertical elevator car movement, an electronic safety actuator (ESA) and a control system. The ESA actuates the safety and includes an ESA body secured to the car frame with horizontal maneuverability and defining a groove through which the guide rail translates during the vertical elevator car movement, a magnetic guide operably disposed within the groove to exert magnetic force on the guide rail and a sensor disposed within the groove to sense horizontal distance between the guide rail and corresponding portions of the ESA body. The control system controls the magnetic guide to exert a magnetic force in accordance with reading of the sensor to maneuver the ESA body horizontally.

    Abstract: A method and system for controlling a movable door associated with a passenger compartment, the door moveable between an opened position and a closed position configured to provide access to, or egress from, the passenger compartment. The method includes monitoring a landing area of the elevator door with at least one sensor, and determining a level of urgency of an approaching passenger based on the information from the at least one sensor. If the level of urgency exceeds a predetermined threshold, modifying a closing of the elevator door based on the level of urgency. The method may also include modifying a closing speed of the elevator door if the level of urgency exceeds a predetermined threshold.
