    Abstract: An optical navigation device includes a casing, a circuit board, an illumination light source and an optical receiver. The casing is movably located above a navigation surface. The circuit board is disposed inside the casing. The illumination light source is disposed on the circuit board and adapted to provide an illumination channel toward the navigation surface. The optical receiver is disposed adjacent to the illumination light source. An imaging channel of the optical receiver is substantially parallel to a planar normal vector of the navigation surface, and the optical receiver is adapted to identify features on the navigation surface within a range crossed by the imaging channel and the illumination channel for providing navigation information.

    Abstract: There is provided an optical positioning system including a detected surface, an optical sensor, a register and a processor. The detected surface has interleaved bright regions and dark regions arranged in a transverse direction. The optical sensor captures an image frame of the detected surface within a field of view thereof and using a shutter time, wherein the detected surface and the optical sensor have a relative movement in the transverse direction. The register records a type of a last passed edge. The processor calculates a first position using a first algorithm upon the recorded last passed edge being a bright-to-dark edge and the field of view being aligned with one of the dark regions, and calculates a second position using a second algorithm, different from the first algorithm, upon the recorded last passed edge being a dark-to-bright edge and the field of view being aligned with the same one of the dark regions.

The light source module projects a first pattern and a second pattern toward a moving direction. The image sensor captures an image of the first pattern and an image of the second pattern. The processor calculates one-dimensional depth information according to the image of the first pattern and calculates two-dimensional depth information according to the image of the second pattern.

    Abstract: There is provided an optical sensor that acquires a first image frame corresponding to a first flicker period and acquires a second image frame corresponding to a second flicker period. The optical sensor adds the first image frame to the second image frame to generate a sum of image frames for the motion detection. Or, the optical sensor respectively adds pixel data of every two pixels in neighboring rows of the first image frame and the second image frame to generate a low-resolution image frame for the motion detection.

    Abstract: There is provided a smoke detector including a light source, a reflective surface, a light sensor and a processor. The light sensor receives reflected light when the light source emits light toward the reflective surface, and generates a reference detection signal when there is no smoke. The processor receives the detection signal from the light sensor, and automatically selects a set of predetermined condition thresholds according to a profile of the detection signal to be compared with the detection signal thereby determining whether to generate an alarm according to the comparison result.

    Abstract: There is provided a capacitive touch device including a touch panel and a control chip. The touch panel includes a detection electrode configured to form a self-capacitor. The control chip includes an emulation circuit and a subtraction circuit. The emulation circuit is configured to output a reference signal. The subtraction circuit is coupled to the emulation circuit and the detection electrode, subtracts the reference signal outputted by the emulation circuit from a detected signal outputted by the detection electrode to output a differential detected signal, and identifies a touch event according to an amplified differential detected signal so as to improve the touch sensitivity.
