Abstract:
A cartridge for an emergency eyewash stations is disclosed. The cartridge assembly includes a housing having a front section and a back section that couple together. The front section has a surface defining an opening into the housing. A sealed, fluid-containing bladder having a dispensing port is contained within the housing. A bracket is configured and arranged to couple to the opening on the front section of the housing such that the dispensing port is captured in a fixed position between the bracket and the surface on the front section defining the opening.
Abstract:
The present invention provides glucan-based compositions and methods for stimulating an immune response against mutans streptococci components and vaccines and methods for the treatment and prevention of dental caries. In a preferred embodiment, a glucan polymer, preferably WSG, is covalently bound to one or more T cell-dependent antigens to form a conjugate vaccine. The T cell-dependent antigen preferably contains epitopes of one or more mutans streptococcal proteins, such as a glucosyltransferase. Moreover, one or more moieties, including haptens, may be conjugated to the glucan or to the glucan-T cell-dependent composition. In a preferred embodiment, these moieties are peptides which contain immunogenic epitopes corresponding to components of a mutans streptococcus.
Abstract:
Services, systems, and computer program products are provided for modifying a grammar of a hierarchical multimodal menu that include selling to a customer a keyword, selling to a customer a location in a grammar in a hierarchical multimodal menu, and storing the keyword in the location. Storing the keyword in the location may be carried out by storing the keyword in a grammar cache in the grammar.
Abstract:
A breathing circuit component includes an inlet, an outlet and an enclosing wall. The enclosing wall defines a gases passageway between the inlet and the outlet. At least a region of the enclosing wall is formed from a breathable material that allows the passage of water vapour without allowing the passage of liquid water or respiratory gases. The breathing circuit component is the expiratory limb of a breathing circuit.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method for producing polymer nanostructures, the method comprising the steps of: forming at least one nanostructure substrate, web, membrane or mat; exposing the at least one nanostructure substrate, web, membrane or mat to at least one monomer composition, where the at least one monomer composition is in a vapor phase and the at least one monomer composition is deposited on the surface of and/or within the at least one nanostructure substrate, web, membrane or mat; and subjecting the at least one exposed nanostructure substrate, web, membrane or mat to conditions suitable to polymerize the at least one monomer composition, thereby yielding polymer nanostructures where the polymer nanostructures are formed on and/or in the nanostructure substrate, web, membrane or mat.
Abstract:
A hydraulic valve lifter including venting means to assure venting of air through the lifter and filling thereof with oil during pre-start filling of the engine oil galleries after engine assembly. Patterning of a hemispherical pushrod seat surface, and/or patterning of either or both of the mating surfaces of a pushrod seat and a piston, permits air purged from the engine through a pushrod to be vented through the lifter. Such means may be temporary or permanent and may include coatings of the surfaces with materials that are destroyed by engine action after starting. Permanent means may include surface grooves in the mating surfaces and/or small-diameter passages between the hemispherical seat surface and the cylindrical outer surface of the pushrod seat. Venting means in accordance with the invention is useful for both valve-deactivating and non-valve-deactivating valve lifters.
Abstract:
A weed cutting apparatus for use in water is disclosed. The weed cutting apparatus would be designed to cut weeds within a body of water without having the weeds tangle on the present invention.
Abstract:
A needle safety apparatus is disclosed which includes an inner bearing disposed within an outer bearing. The inner bearing is moveable to extend telescopically in a first interior space defined by the outer bearing. A second interior space is defined by the inner bearing, while extendable linkage segments connect the hub to the inner bearing. A hub retains the proximal end of a needle, while the distal end of the needle extends through the second interior space. A wedging portion is movable with the inner bearing and pivots to secure the distal end of the needle within the second interior space when the distal end of the needle is retracted therethrough. A latch may be formed in the inner bearing to obstruct the first interior space and prevent the inner bearing from retracting therethrough.
Abstract:
A packaging assembly for packaging a surgical device including first and second needle assemblies at least a distal portion of which having a curved configuration including an inner package member having first and second recesses sized and shaped for receiving at least a handle portion of the first and second needle assemblies. The recesses extend inwardly from the distal end of the inner package member a distance so that the distal curved portions of the needle assemblies extend beyond the distal end of the inner package. The distal end has a height such that the curved distal portions do not contact a surface on which the inner package member rests. The assembly further includes an outer package member dimensioned to removably receive therein the inner package member and the surgical device. The outer package member has a height sufficient so that when the inner package member and surgical devices are received therein, the outer package element remains substantially clear from contact with the surgical devices. The inner package member and surgical device can be removed from the outer package member and placed on a substantially flat surface in a manner such that the surgical device retains its orientation, and the distal portions of the needle assemblies remain clear of the surface.
