Abstract: A filter assembly for removing particulates from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine, comprising a housing having an inlet pipe which may be coupled to the engine and an outlet pipe which may be open to the atmosphere, and a filter arrangement disposed within the housing 22. An exhaust gas flow path is defined from the inlet pipe through the filter arrangement and out the outlet pipe. Each of the components of the filter arrangement are resistant to high temperatures, so that the filter arrangement may be regenerated by heat.

Abstract: An air/oil separator has a filter media pack arranged radially symmetrically about an axis. A bottom end cap is secured to one end of the filter media pack. A top end cap and flange assembly includes a flange and trough member having a flange portion extending radially outwardly from the axis providing a flange for mounting the separator such that the separator is suspended from the flange portion. The flange and trough member also has a trough portion providing an inverted trough within which is a hardenable material secured to the other end of the filter media pack. The flange and trough member is a single unitary member forming both flange and the trough, which eliminates separate flange and trough members which must be welded or brazed together.

Abstract: A filter cartridge having pleated filter material, the ends of which are joined together to form a conical tube. At least one band is bonded to the pleated filter material and extends at least partially around the circumference of the material in the area of each of its end sides. The band may be bonded to crease points of the filter material. A method of manufacturing the filter cartridge includes providing the initially strip-shaped, planar filter material with pleats. The pleated strip-shaped filter material is laid out forming an unwound cone-shaped shell. A band is placed onto the crease points of one side and is bonded to the crease points. Subsequently, the filter material is bent to form a conical tube, and the tube is closed upon itself by joining the two ends together.

Abstract: A filter assembly is formed of an impervious elongated tubular housing and an elongated filter member positioned within the housing. In a first embodiment a barrier is interposed between a filter member first surface and the housing internal tubular surface adjacent the housing inlet end and another barrier is interposed between the filter member second surface and the housing internal tubular surface adjacent the housing outlet end. In a second embodiment, the filter member is formed of a pleated sheet, the pleats being folded at their ends, and the pleated sheet is formed into a frusto-conical shape with the conical base secured to the tubular housing interior surface. Abstract: An air filter having a tapered cylindrical filter member is attached to an engine air intake at its larger end and has an inverted frusto-conical member inside the opposing smaller end for reducing turbulent air flow through the air filter. The inverted frusto-conical member includes an air filter portion which may be the tapered walls of the inverted frusto-conical member, or the smaller flat end of the inverted frusto-conical member. Abstract: A generally flat air filtering device for an optical disk drive is disclosed. As air is sucked into the disk drive via an inlet of a filter, a filter mat included in the filter removes dust and other impurities from the air. The purified air comes out of the outlet of a tube and then enters and cools an optical disk unit. The filter mat has a generally V-shaped section and, therefore, has a filtering area great enough to enhance efficient dust collection as well as the service life of the filter. To isolate the purified air from surrounding dust-containing air, an endless projection or rail is provided on the tube to bite into the filter mat which is flexible.

Abstract: An improved filter element assembly for use in an air cleaner on an internal combustion engine comprises a perforated liner. A replaceable filter element comprising a pleated filter medium is releasably coupled to the liner. A safety sleeve assembly is interposed between the filter medium and the liner. An outer liner surrounds the filter medium and exerts a radially inward force thereon to bias the pleats into engagement with the liner. The filter element assembly can be reconditioned when the filter medium becomes used with a replacement kit which includes a new filter element, safety sleeve assembly, and outer liner. The used filter element assembly is disassembled and the worn components thereof replaced with the new components of the kit. The filter medium is expandable from a collapsed cylindrical form in which the filter element is shipped to an expanded conical form for use during filtering operations.
