Abstract: A conveyor belt for use in an ice body maker adapted to transfer the formed ice bodies from a collecting space to a dispensing space. The conveyor belt is arranged to pick up the ice bodies temporarily stored in the collecting space and drop them into a suitable guide chute leading to an upper portion of the dispensing space so that a receiver disposed in the dispensing space may receive the desired qauantity of ice bodies for subsequent disposition as desired. The belt is formed of a plurality of link plates articulated by cooperating knuckles with each plate having a forward edge provided with upstanding cleats and a rearward edge provided with upstanding cleats. The cleats on the forward edge extend at an angle of less than 90.degree. to the plane of the plate and the cleats on the rearward edge may extend at a greater angle to the plane of the plates. In the illustrated embodiment, the forward cleats extend at an angle of approximately 60.degree. to the plate and the rearward cleats extend at an angle of approximately 90.degree. to the plate. The belt may be entrained about upper and lower sprockets so as to extend at an upwardly forwardly directed angle so that the ice bodies picked up by the cleats are caused to be discharged into the dispensing space as a result of the cooperative functioning of the cleats and the flat surface of the link plates. The plates may be connected by hinges including open knuckles on the front and rear edges of the plates for facilitated maintenance and assembly.

Abstract: A conveyor belt is disclosed of the type adapted to be supported and driven by a pair of wire ropes at or adjacent its edges. The belt comprises a body of rubber reinforced by at least two sheets of fabric embedded therein. Each sheet of fabric includes transverse filaments arranged in two planes and intimately bonded to the rubber. The transverse filaments are of specified size and elasticity. The combination of these physical characteristics of the filaments and their location in the rubber body result in the transverse filaments and the rubber acting together in the manner of an I-beam in resisting transverse loads, both compressive and tensile forces produced by transverse bending being carried principally by the filaments while shear forces are principally taken by the rubber.

Abstract: An endless conveyor apparatus is capable of transverse bending to negotiate a curve lying substantially in a horizontal plane. Pretensioned elongated elastic beads attached to the edges of a flexible endless conveyor belt accomplishes this by accommodating the difference in travel required by the bend radius differential. Specifically, the elastic beads are pretensioned sufficiently to assure support of the belt edges and resist catenary sag adjacent the inside transverse bend radius. Rollers on the frame of the apparatus engage the elastic beads supporting and driving the belt. A spine may be provided along the longitudinal center line of the conveyor and may be engaged by a plurality of pairs of guide wheels. The elastic beads are shorter than the load portion of the belt to provide for the pretensioning function. Laterally extending corrugations assist in accommodating the transverse bending action and flexible cross lines extend along the corrugations supported from the elastic beads.

Abstract: The conveyor assembly includes endless means for moving at least one container along a path. A first means is mounted on the moving means for supporting the container along a first side thereof. A second means is mounted on the moving means for supporting the container along a side opposite said first moving means. The first and second support means are capable of providing sole support for the container as it moves along the path. The conveyor assembly is particularly useful in feeding rimmed tray containers through a wrapping machine. More particularly, while the first and second support means are holding the container on opposite sides thereof, a cover sheet is being folded along adjacent unsupported side rims as the container moves along a path. A further feature is directed to a mechanism which operates when the conveyor means changes direction.
