The photonic device includes a metastructured dispersive region structured to partially demultiplex the input signal into an output signal and a throughput signal. The output signal includes a channel of the multiplexed channels. The throughput signal includes the remaining channels of the multiplexed channels. The photonic device includes an output region and a throughput region optically coupled with the metastructured dispersive region to receive the output signal and the throughput signal, respectively. The metastructured dispersive region includes a heterogeneous distribution of a first material and a second material that structures the metastructured dispersive region to partially demultiplex the input signal into the output signal and the throughput signal.

Abstract: A method of optimizing structural parameters of a physical device includes: receiving an initial description of the physical device that describes the physical device with an array of voxels that each describe one or more of the structural parameters; performing a time-forward simulation of a field response propagating through the physical device and interacting with the voxels in a simulated environment, wherein the field response is influenced by the structural parameters of the voxels; generating field response values describing the field response at each of the voxels for each of a plurality of time steps; encoding the field response values to generate compressed field response values; storing the compressed field response values; decoding one or more of the compressed field response values to extract regenerated field response values; and generating a revised description of the physical device having a structural parameter optimized.

Abstract: A technique for dynamic generation of a derivative story includes obtaining content preferences from a content consumer. The content preferences indicate preferences for characteristics of the derivative story. A content data structure is identified based at least in part on the content preferences. The content data structure specifies story elements of a preexisting story. The story elements are defined at one or more different levels of story abstraction and associated with metadata constraints that constrain modification or use of the story elements within the derivative story. At least some of the metadata constraints indicate whether associated ones of the story elements are mutable story elements. One or more of the mutable story elements are adapted to the content preferences of the content consumer as constrained by the metadata constraints to generate the derivative story. The derivative story is then rendered via a user interface.

Abstract: In some embodiments, logic stored on a computer-readable medium, in response to execution, causes a computing system to conduct an inverse design process to generate a plurality of segmented designs corresponding to a plurality of device specifications, determine at least one highly impactful design area based on the plurality of segmented designs; and designate the at least one highly impactful design area as a static design area. In some embodiments, a product line comprising a plurality of physical devices is provided. Each physical device of the plurality of physical devices includes a design region that includes a static design area and a customized design area. The static design area for each physical device is the same for each physical device of the plurality of physical devices, and the customized design area for each physical device is different for each physical device of the plurality of physical devices.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium that provides an enhanced synchronization framework. One of the methods includes a primary and a second device that receive configuration information which identifies one or more actions to be performed by the secondary device when it receives specified pulses of a sequence of pulses from the primary device. The primary device transmits a sequence of pulses. The primary and the secondary device receive a particular pulse from the sequence of pulses. The secondary device determines whether the particular pulse satisfies one or more predetermined criteria and generates an instruction based on the determination.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for self-calibrating ultrasonic removal of sea lice. In some implementations, a method includes generating, by transducers distributed in a sea lice treatment station, a first set of ultrasonic signals, detecting a second set of ultrasonic signals in response to propagation of the first set of ultrasonic signals through water, determining propagation parameters of the sea lice treatment station based on the second set of ultrasonic signals that were detected, obtaining an image of a sea louse on a fish in the sea lice treatment station, determining, from the image, a location of the sea louse in the sea lice treatment station, and generating a third set of ultrasonic signals that focuses energy at the sea louse.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable storage media, for automated camera positioning for feeding behavior monitoring. In some implementations, a system obtains an image of a scene, a spatial model that corresponds to a subfeeder, and calibration parameters of a camera, the system determines a size of the subfeeder in the image of the scene, the system selects an updated position of the camera relative to the subfeeder, the system provides the updated position of the camera relative to the subfeeder to a winch controller, and the system moves the camera to the updated position.

Abstract: Methods described herein include receiving data from flowing a plurality of aptamers over a sample of tumor cells randomly affixed to a surface of a microfluidic device. The tumor cells may include one or more unknown tumor subtypes of cells. The plurality of aptamers may include a plurality of aptamer families. Each aptamer family of the plurality of aptamer families may be determined to bind to at least one possible subtype of the tumor cells. The data may include a measure of binding affinity of each aptamer family to the tumor cells. The method may include analyzing the measure of the binding affinity of each aptamer family to the tumor cells. The analyzing may include classifying the binding affinity. The method may also include determining one or more aptamer families that characterize the one or more unknown tumor subtypes of cells based on the classifying.
