Abstract:
A data acquisition and perusal system and method including a database selection module, a database index generator module and a search module. The database selection module enables selection of a plurality of files for inclusion into at least one selectable database. The database index generator module enables generation of a searchable index of the data contained in the selectable database. The search module enables a search to be performed of the searchable index according to search criteria. The data acquisition and perusal system and method may also allow users to view, acquire, and generate single- or multiple-data sources locally or remotely, and allow users to compile, index, modify, and append the data sources according to default or user defined criteria. The data acquisition and perusal system and method may also selectively acquire and display data contained within remote databases depending upon the user's access permissions to such databases. Such a system allows for the capture of HTML data which is automatically indexed without human intervention and has the ability to automatically and accurately locate or “pinpoint,” and highlight specific text or groups of text designated by the user within the resulting database. Such a system contains a link module that enables custom links to be defined between selected terms of selected files of the selectable database including the custom links so that the searchable index includes only valid links.
Abstract:
Vaccine compositions and immunogenic compositions are described which are glucosyltransferase subunit vaccines for dental caries and which contain at least one peptide which corresponds to a sequence of glucosyltransferase containing aspartate 413, an equivalent of aspartate 413, aspartate 451, an equivalent of aspartate 451, aspartate 562, an equivalent of aspartate 562, aspartate 567, an equivalent of aspartate 567, histidine 561, an equivalent of histidine 561, tryptophan 491, an equivalent of tryptophan 491, glutamate 489, an equivalent of glutamate 489, arginine 449, an equivalent of arginine 449, or combinations thereof. These subunit vaccines elicit antibodies which protect an immunized mammal from dental caries. Methods of provoking an immune response to intact glucosyltransferase are also described.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a probe assembly for a wafer probe station having a probe holder and a replaceable probe tip. The probe holder is triaxially configured with a laterally extending center signal conductor, an intermediate guard conductor extending along the length of the center conductor and spaced radially therefrom by a tubular insulator member, and an outer shield member extending along a portion of the guard conductor and spaced radially therefrom by a second tubular insulator member. A coaxially configured probe tip has a center conductor extending to a probe point and a guard conductor radially spaced from the center conductor by an intermediate insulator. A releasable connection provides a rigid attachment between the probe tip and the probe holder and provides electrical interfaces between the center and guard conductors thereof. The probe assembly provides a replaceable probe tip solution having a rigid design and the ability to guard the center conductor along its length to a distance very near the probe point to provide enhanced performance in low current and low voltage measurement applications.
Abstract:
Provided is, for example, a method for the fabrication of electrical interconnects in semiconductor devices wherein a substrate including two or more transistors having gate regions wherein the gate regions are not exposed (e.g., the gate regions are completely covered by an insulating cap) is provided. An insulating layer overlying the transistors and the active areas is deposited, where upon a hard mask is created and patterned to form a contact plug/interconnect opening over a first active area and a portion of a first transistor immediately adjacent the first active area. A spacer is formed within the contact plug/interconnect opening. Insulating material overlying active areas between transistors is removed. A portion of the gate region of the first transistor is then exposed and interconnect material is deposited within the contact plug/interconnect opening onto the exposed portion of the gate region of the first transistor and the first active area.
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing wire or needles having a taper point. Needle or wire blanks are cut from a roll of wire and mounted to a carrier strip. The carrier strip and needles are moved through a succession of forming and trimming and grinding stations. The blanks are preferably rotated in the strip while being ground.

Abstract:
A process for manufacturing surgical needles from solid, cylindrical needle blanks. A plurality of needle blanks are cut from a roll of wire and mounted to a flat carrier strip. The carrier strip then indexes each needle blank to a grinding station where an orbital grinding means grinds the distal end of each needle blank into a taper point while the needle blanks are held fixed in the carrier strip.
Abstract:
Retinoid-like activity is exhibited by compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is F, Cl, OH or CH.sub.3, Y is H or F, R.sub.1 -R.sub.6 are each independently hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, n is an integer of 1 to 4 and R.sub.7 is hydrogen or a carboxyl-protecting group, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds of formula I selectively interact with the retinoic acid subtype RAR.gamma. and have been found to lack the liver toxicity associated with systemic administration of non-selective retinoids.

Abstract:
An internal combustion rotary engine comprising a housing, at least one sun wheel centered about the central axis and positioned within one of at least one cylindrical compartment of the housing, and including a sun wheel circumference and at least one semicylindrical receptable defined along the sun wheel circumference, at least one lobe extending from an inner cylindrical surface of the compartment, and at least one planet wheel received in the at least one semicylindrical receptable of the sun wheel. The at least one planet wheel may be configured to engage the inner cylindrical surface of the cylindrical compartment and include at least one indentation configured to be received by the at least one lobe when the at least one planet wheel rotates along the inner cylindrical surface. Air intake and compression as well as combustion and exhaust may be performed within the same or different compartments of the at least one cylindrical compartment.
