Abstract:
A content-addressable and -searchable storage system for managing and exploring massive amounts of feature-rich data such as images, audio or scientific data, is shown. A segmentation and feature extraction unit segments data corresponding to an object into a plurality of data segments and -generates a feature vector for each data segment. A sketch construction component converts the feature vector into a compact bit-vector corresponding to the object. The system also has a similarity index having plurality of compact bit-vectors corresponding to a plurality of objects and an index insertion component for inserting a compact bit-vector corresponding to an object into the similarity index. The system may further have an indexing unit for identifying a candidate set of objects from said similarity index based upon a compact bit-vector corresponding to a query object. Still further, the system may additionally have a similarity ranking component for ranking objects in said candidate set by estimating their distances to the query object.
Abstract:
A read channel includes a variable gain amplifier, a low-pass filter, an AGC, an analog-to-digital converter, a frequency synthesizer, a filter, a soft-output detector, an LDPC decoding unit, a synchronizing signal detector, a run-length limited decoding unit, a descrambler, and a first baseline wander corrector. The first baseline wander corrector corrects a baseline variation by a feedforward control.
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for providing efficient data storage. A plurality of data segments is received in a data stream. The system determines whether a data segment has been stored previously in a low latency memory. In the event that the data segment is determined to have been stored previously, an identifier for the previously stored data segment is returned.
Abstract:
A method for selecting a signal to noise ratio for a communications code includes obtaining extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) information for a repeat-zigzag Hadamard (RZH) code responsive to a Hadamard order and a signal to noise ratio, determining code parameters for an irregular repeat zigzag Hadamard (IRZH) code for a corresponding code rate in response to the obtained EXIT values, and repeating the step of obtaining the EXIT information for a different signal to noise ratio if the corresponding code rate is other than a selected rate. The corresponding code rate is related to a bit error rate. In a preferred embodiment, the step of obtaining EXIT information includes one of obtaining an EXIT curve for repeat-zigzag Hadamard code by Monte Carlo simulation using serial decoding or obtaining an EXIT function for parallel decoding of the repeat-zigzag Hadamard code by using equations.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to dew resistant coatings and articles having the dew resistant coating adhered thereto. The dew resistant coatings comprise elongate silica particles. These coating are useful on articles or surfaces used in outdoor applications and articles and surfaces used in moist indoor environments.
Abstract:
Cluster storage is disclosed. A data stream or a data block is received. The data stream or the data block is broken into segments. For each segment, a cluster node is selected, and in the event that a similar segment to the segment is identified that is already managed by the selected cluster node, a reference to the similar segment and a delta between the similar segment and the segment is caused to be stored on the selected cluster node.
Abstract:
A method for storing data comprising is disclosed. The method comprises receiving a data stream comprising a plurality of data segments wherein each data segment is associated with an identifier. The method further determining using a subset of identifiers that are stored in a low latency memory whether a data segments has been previously stored and returning the identifier for the data segment in the event the data segment is determined to have been stored previously.
Abstract:
A signal processing apparatus has a plurality of baseline wander correcting units, provided in a processing path in which a predetermined processing is performed on an input signal. At least one of the plurality of baseline wander correcting units includes a correction permission control unit that controls permission or rejection of correction, and baseline wander in the input signal is corrected sequentially by each of the plurality of baseline wander correcting units, based on a control of the correction permission control unit. The baseline wander correcting unit corrects the baseline wander by determining whether or not the baseline correction is to be effected or not, so that the wander of baseline can be efficiently corrected.
Abstract:
Methodology for a high fidelity polymerase-mediated primer extension for use in genotyping is provided. The primer extensions are carried out with polymerase having 3′ to 5′ exonuclease activity and primers with their 3′ modification of being exonuclease-resistant. The primers are designed to have their 3′ termini: 1. complementary to nucleotide to be analyzed; and 2. subject to be proofread by the 3′ to 5′ exonuclease of the high fidelity polymerases.
