Abstract:
The present invention relates to transducers for converting the spatial position of an object into an electrical signal, more specific to a novel position sensor which has advantages of simplicity, long-term stability and durability. According to the invention, a position sensor comprises at least one body of an elastomeric material, mounting means for mounting a first part of the body to a support, and movable means joined to a second part of the body at a distance from the first part, the movable means being movable to stretch a third part of the body located between the mounting means and the movable means. The sensor has opposed first and second surfaces on the third part, a first electrode on the first surface, and a second electrode on the second surface.
Abstract:
This invention relates to absolute pressure sensors with two bonded wafers containing a pressure sensing structure and forming a reference pressure chamber and a buffer chamber. Since the buffer chamber collects molecules, which permeate through a bonding interface between the two wafers, a raise in pressure of the reference chamber can be avoided. The sensor is therefore more resistant to pressure equalisation between the pressure chamber and the pressure of the surroundings, i.e. the sensed pressure and repetitive recalibration of the sensor can be avoided.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for the optical analysis of a fluid, in which the fluid that has a first refractive index, is surrounded by an auxiliary fluid with a second refractive index, the first refractive index being larger than the second refractive index and light being sent through the fluid. It is endeavoured to obtain an encapsulation of the fluid in the auxiliary fluid at low cost. For this purpose, firstly the auxiliary fluid is led into a measuring channel, until it is filled, and then lead the fluid into the auxiliary fluid within the cross section with a flow speed, which generates a parabolic flow profile.
Abstract:
An axial piston micropump is disclosed, having a cylinder drum, in which several cylinders are provided a swash plate, with respect to which the cylinder drum is rotatable. It is desirable for such a micropump to have a small displacement combined with a long service life and in which the displacement or delivery volume can be achieved with great accuracy. For that purpose, at least two cylinders are provided, of which at least one is in the form of a working cylinder which has an associated working piston, while at least one other cylinder is in the form of a balance cylinder and has an associated balance piston.
Abstract:
A flow control valve includes a valve body defining fluid inlet and outlet sections interconnected by a connecting port. A valve unit is disposed in the valve body and is operably connected to an actuator to be moved thereby for opening and closing the connecting port. The valve unit includes a valve element which has a bleed passage extending therethrough for communicating the fluid inlet and outlet sections with one another. A bleed piston is operably connected to the actuator and is movable thereby relative to the valve element for opening the bleed passage when the valve unit is in a port-closing position. The valve unit also includes a pressure balancing passage which communicates front and rear ends of the valve element with one another and tending to aid in statically and dynamically balancing the fluid pressures acting on the valve element.
Abstract:
A nozzle, especially an atomizing nozzle for an oil burner, has a housing with a nozzle opening, and a distributing insert which from the interior of the housing lies on the housing in the area of the nozzle opening and is held in the housing with the help of a deformed housing section. To better assure the functioning of the nozzle an elastically deformable element is arranged between the housing section and the distributing insert.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for evaluating a non-measured operating variable in a refrigeration plant, which can be derived from at least one signal which is sensed at specific points in time, enabling early recognition of errors. An error indicator is formed by means of the following steps: a) the error indicator is set to a specified value at a first moment in time; b) a sum if formed from the error indicator of a predetermined earlier moment in time and a first variable derived from an estimated value for the operating variable taking into account at least one signal-dependent variable; c) the error indicator is set to the value of the sum if the sum is greater than the specified value, and set to the specified value if the sum is less than or the same as the specified value.
Abstract:
A method is provided for the determination of the concentration of compounds in body tissue and fluids. The method utilises two compartments containing reference solutions, which are separated from the sample by two different semi-permeable membranes, in a serial manner, whereby a difference in osmotic pressure occurs in the two compartments due to compounds, which can permeate one of the membranes, but not the other. The difference in osmotic pressure reflects the concentration of these compounds. The method is especially suited for analysis of the concentration of glucose in blood or tissue of diabetic patients, where a device is implanted underneath the skin of the patient and where the method is carried out by using the implanted device.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a fail-safe valve having a valve element, and a control motor being connected with the valve element via a driveline. It is endeavoured to ensure the tightness of the refrigeration system in a simple manner. For this purpose, it is ensured that the valve element is located inside and the control motor outside a closed valve housing, that the drive line has a magnetic coupling, which acts through the housing, and that the valve element is pressure-released. In addition, a resetting device is provided that causes the valve element to be returned to a predetermined position upon the undesired cessation of control motor operation.
