Abstract:
A thermal pillow apparatus comprising a pillow element, a heat exchanger, a thermal liquid, a fluid pump and a controller is disclosed. The thermal liquid circulates between the heat exchanger and the pillow element in a closed loop, transferring thermal energy between the heat exchanger and the pillow element. A fluid pump is disposed in the closed loop to aid in circulating the thermal liquid within the closed loop. A Peltier device is the typical heat pump element used in the heat exchanger. The controller coordinates the operation of the thermal pillow apparatus, for example monitoring the temperature of the thermal liquid, and activating the heat exchanger and the fluid pump.
Abstract:
A pillow with simulated respiration includes a pair of impervious panels that are joined together to form a rectangular shaped enclosed body and a mechanism for inflating/deflating the body periodically to simulate an individual's breathing. The pillow may also include a cushion on top of the body with an electric heating pad on top of the cushion together with a pair of vibrators. The vibrators each have an elongated shape and are constructed and dimensioned to message an individual's neck and upper shoulders when the individual's head is placed on the cushion. The pillow also includes a textile cover with a zipper on one side thereof and a satin pillow case.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a wirelessly-chargeable heating pad, which is coupled to an article in a removable manner and is used in combination with a charging device to perform wireless electrical charging. The wirelessly-chargeable heating pad includes a receiver circuit, a heating element, and a pad body. The receiver circuit includes a rechargeable battery. The heating element is electrically connected to the rechargeable battery. The heating element and the receiver circuit are both mounted to the pad body. The article includes a removable mounting structure, so that the wirelessly-chargeable heating pad is removably coupled to the article through the removable mounting structure. The charging device, after receiving electrical power, converts the electrical power into an alternate current signal that is transmitted to the receiver circuit. The receiver circuit receives and converts the alternate current signal into electrical power that is then stored in the rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery subsequently supplies the electrical power to the heating element to give off heat.
Abstract:
The child's neck pillow is a device that can be employed to provide comfort and support for a child when the child is riding in a vehicle. The pillow is designed to fit around the child's neck and includes legs that fall forward over the child's body. The legs may have mating fasteners to secure the legs together to prevent the child's head from falling forward. A sleeve is provided to encase the pillow. The sleeve can be removed for washing. The sleeve may hold ice or medicinal packs.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sleeping device, such as a pillow, mattress or quilt, wherein the sleeping device is adapted to be used by a person during rest and comprises a first layer of a material having temperature regulating properties and a second layer of down filling. By using a material with temperature regulating properties together with a layer of down filling, very good properties of minimizing temperature variations are obtained.
Abstract:
A thermal regulating cushioning device for heating and/or cooling is provided. The thermal regulating device comprises a flexible, deformable outer membrane being adapted to sealably receive a liquid-like material therein. A foam core is disposed within the flexible, deformable outer membrane wherein the foam core has a dimension substantially coincident with the outer membrane. A liquid-like material is sealably contained within the flexible, deformable outer membrane and saturating the foam core with the liquid material being at least partially circulatable through the foam core wherein the cooperation of the saturated foam core and the sealable flexible membrane provide a uniform, thermal regulating medium and structural support such that the cushioning device is readily, uniformly deformable when a load is applied thereto. An external heater and/or cooler circulates the liquid through the cushioning device.
Abstract:
A warmer for treatment of the feet, neck, and lower back area includes a frame for holding a bladder. An open-cell foam-filled cushion is disposed within the bladder and a cover having opposite ends secured to the frame overlies the bladder so that the bladder holds its shape regardless of its orientation. An opening in a top wall of the bladder allows the charging of water into the bladder. The water fills the bladder and occupies the interstitial spaces of the cushion. The frame includes a flat base that is inclined slightly relative to a horizontal support surface and that flat base supports the bladder. The foam-filled bladder conforms to the soles of feet when the warmer is used as a foot rest. When used as a pillow, the bladder conforms to a person's head and neck, and it conforms to the lower back region when the warmer is positioned in a substantially vertical orientation.
Abstract:
The invention is a cooling pillow container insert which provides a continuous cool pillow surface and absorbs a pillow user's lost metabolic heat. Preventing thermal discomfort which causes pillow flipping and tossing and turning is the primary goal of the invention. The container slides between a conventional pillow and pillow case. The container is composed of a soft vinyl bag which snugly surrounds a fluid saturated porous foam core. A resealable valve allows fluid to be added or removed at will and the container's temperature to be adjusted. The container promotes heat transfer from the pillow user to the container. The heat is then dispersed uniformly throughout the container's fluid ensuring a uniformly cool pillow surface. Heat is also continuously lost to the surrounding environment. A pillow user's sleep is enhanced in warm temperatures without using an energy source. The container insert can also be used with or without a pillow, as a cooling bed for an animal or a pet.
Abstract:
A two-sided pillow that is capable of providing different degrees of support to a user's neck is disclosed. In one embodiment, pillow fill is enclosed between a first and a third panel. An exterior depression is formed in the central region of the first panel, and the central region of the third panel is supported in a substantially flat position. In another embodiment, pillow fill is enclosed between first and second opposed panels. Each of the first and second panels has a depression formed substantially at a central region thereof. A third panel is attached to the second panel for covering the depression formed in the second panel, and pillow fill is enclosed between the third panel and the second panel. In another embodiment, first and second opposed panels that are substantially identical and that each have a central region and four sides are joined together along the four sides to enclose pillow fill therebetween. The first and second panels are further joined together at the central region of each panel to form an exterior depression substantially at the center of each panel. A third panel is attached to the second panel for covering the exterior depression formed in the second panel, and pillow fill is enclosed between the third panel and the second panel.
Abstract:
One aspect of the invention is a cooling pillow comprising a flexible pouch and thermal transfer fluid composition hermetically filled in the pouch. A second aspect of the invention is a cooling device which comprises a pad having a flexible pouch and a thermal transfer fluid composition hermetically filled in the pouch, and means for holding the pad therewith to bring the pad in contact with the human body. The fluid composition comprises a mixture of fine particles of hard or graphitic carbon having good thermal conductivity and water. Sodium chloride, surface active agents, bactericides and preservatives may be further added to the composition. Since the carbon particles have good thermal conductivity, the fluid readily reaches a temperature close to ambient temperatures and can gently cool the human body. Long use allows the body to be continuously cooled down to a temperature close to the ambient temperature.
