Abstract:
A self-diagnosing electronic price label. The label communicates with a central processor in order to receive price information for display and to report the status of the label to the central processor. The label periodically runs a self-test program to verify proper operation of its components. If a component fails the self-test, the failure is reported to a central processor, and the central processor reports the failure for investigation. During normal operation, the label issues a signal to the central processor indicating normal operation. In the event of a failure, the label ceases to send the signal indicating normal operation. When the signal is not received as expected, the central processor reports the failure to receive the signal for investigation. This allows the central processor to be alerted to failures which disable communication between the label and the central processor.
Abstract:
A method for use in marketing includes detecting, at the point-of-sale, a plurality of Uniform Product Codes associated with respective items purchased by a customer. Abstract:
A method and system for categorizing a medical or a pharmaceutical product. The method includes determining an originator indicator for the product (220), determining a-patent status (240), determining a tradename indicator for the product (250), and categorizing the product (260) as a branded product or a generic product, using the determined originator indicator, patent status indicator, source indicator, and tradename indicator.
Abstract:
Settlement systems and methods are provided wherein a buyer takes possession of a product at a retailer. In one embodiment, a purchasing system arranges through a communication network for a buyer to purchase a product from a seller at a first price. The purchasing system also arranges for the buyer to take possession of the product at a retailer that offers the product for sale at a second price. Abstract:
A method and system for providing a user with an album including a plurality of pages is disclosed. The method and system include allowing a user to purchase at least a portion of the album including a portion of the plurality of pages. The user is allowed to set a plurality of defaults for configuring the plurality of pages. At least one default of the plurality of defaults is capable of being altered using information provided by the user. The information is received from the user separately from the user setting the plurality of defaults. The information, if any, is received together with an initial providing of digital image data for a plurality of images captured using a digital imaging device. The at least one default is altered if the user has provided the information. The portion of the plurality of pages is provided using the plurality of defaults and the user is allowed access to at least the portion of the album.
Abstract:
A shelf arrangement has a multiplicity of shelf units, each shelf unit having a receiver and a processor coupled thereto. Each receiver is set up to receive data from a data transmission unit fitted on an object which is to be arranged or is arranged in the respective shelf unit. Each processor is set up such that it can determine the position of the shelf unit's processor within the shelf arrangement by virtue of messages being interchanged by processors in directly adjacent shelf units.
Abstract:
Price label system comprising a price label system server connected to transceivers adapted to communicate price label information to price labels using a communication protocol. A predetermined number of transceivers defines a sub-cell and each sub-cell is associated with a communication profile that defines communication protocols to be used when communicating with the price labels in that sub-cell.
