Abstract: A drying apparatus includes a heater and a heat-transfer portion. The heat-transfer portion comes into contact with a second surface of a belt-like medium to transmit thermal energy supplied from the heater to the medium, the second surface being a surface on a back side of a first surface of the medium onto which ink is ejected. Further, the heat-transfer portion includes a base material portion, a first layer portion, and a second layer portion. The base material portion is provided closer to an opposing surface that opposes the heater than a contact surface that comes into contact with the medium. The first layer portion forms the contact surface and has higher abrasion resistance than the base material portion. The second layer portion is provided between the first layer portion and the base material portion and has higher heat conductivity than the base material portion.

Abstract: An example embodiment may involve obtaining an input pixel map of a digital image containing an array of a×b pixel macro-cells; classifying each of the a×b pixel macro-cells as P class cells for substantially lossless compression or Q class cells for lossy compression; creating a first intermediate pixel map representing: the P class cells as is, and the Q class cells with all zero values; creating a second intermediate pixel map representing: the P class cells with all zero values, and the Q class cells as is; encoding the first intermediate pixel map into a first output stream by using substantially lossless compression; and encoding the second intermediate pixel map into a second output stream by: downsampling the P class cells and the Q class cells therein, and serializing representations the downsampled cells.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a common transport route, a first and a second transport route, a first and a second image sensor, a first and a second discharge tray, and a controller. The controller executes a first reading mode including guiding the document from the common transport route to the first transport route, reading the image on the first face of the document with the first image sensor, and discharging the document to the first discharge tray, or a second reading mode including reading the image on the second face of the document with the second image sensor, guiding the document from the common transport route to the second transport route, and discharging the document to the second discharge tray, inhibits the first reading mode, upon deciding that the first discharge tray is full, and inhibits the second reading mode, upon deciding that the second discharge tray is full.

Abstract: Apparatuses related to identifying print jobs for pre-processing are disclosed. In an example apparatus thereof, a header is for pre-rendering a print job stored in a memory of a host device. A data page is for at least one page of the print job stored in the memory of the host device. The header includes job parameters for the pre-rendering. The job parameters include: a system identifier to identify the print job for the pre-rendering; a mode select to set for the pre-rendering; a job identifier to identify the print job from other print jobs by a printer engine or a print manager; and a cache select to set for caching a pre-rendered image for the print job after the pre-rendering thereof.

Abstract: A raster image processor (RIP) system is used in a printing system to process a variety of different jobs. A front end receives the jobs and determines the job type. The job types include a print job, a preview job, and an estimation job. Depending on the type of job, the front end configures the RIPs within RIP system accordingly to process the job. The RIPs may process the job in parallel, with a high performance RIP processing the first page of the job. If the job is not processed in parallel, then the front end assigns the job to a very high performance RIP. The front end also assigns the preview job to a preview RIP and the estimation job to an estimation RIP. The front end configures RIPs as needed.

Abstract: Provided is an industrial printing system that efficiently manages distributed processing of production printing on a peer-to-peer basis. Industrial printing systems perform production printing and include multiple print servers. A plurality of print servers performs distributed processing of jobs. The storage unit stores capability information indicating capabilities that can be processed in rasterizing process, printing processing, and post-processing. The processing determination unit checks job processing requirement based on the capability information stored in the storage unit, and it determines a combination of any of a plurality of print servers, printing apparatuses, and post-processing apparatuses capable of processing the job. The processing management unit transmits a job to each apparatus and requests processing according to the combination determined to be processable by the processing determination unit.

Abstract: A method and a system for managing login information of a computing system during a debugging process are disclosed. The login information is composed according to a number of roles and their associated policies. Some roles have higher authorized levels to view sensitive information. To protect privacy, a technician who access the computing system will not be able to view all content of information. If this restriction prevents the technician to debug the system, the technician can request an upgrade. A new login information with a higher authorized level will be temporarily granted to the technician that allows the technician to view and access more content of information.

Abstract: An image comparison apparatus includes an image comparison portion configured to compare a reference image with a target image. The image comparison portion calculates a degree of blur of each of the reference image and the target image. The image comparison apparatus reduces a difference in the degree of blur between the reference image and the target image to within a specific range by adding blur to one of the reference image and the target image that has a smaller degree of blur. The image comparison apparatus compares the reference image and the target image whose difference in the degree of blur has been reduced to within the specific range.

Abstract: Provided is a peer-to-peer industrial printing system that performs distributed processing in variable printing for production printing. The industrial printing system includes a plurality of print servers and performs variable printing for production printing. Each of the plurality of print servers has a variable attribute generation unit, a variable distribution unit, and a processing management unit. The variable attribute generation unit generates variable attribute information including record information, which is information about each record of variable data for the variable printing. The variable distribution unit distributes each record of the variable data to one of the plurality of print servers based on the variable attribute information generated by the variable attribute generation unit. The processing management unit transmits the job ticket including the record distributed by the variable distribution unit to the other print server that is distributed to request processing.
