Abstract: A vehicle lamp including a plurality of solid state light emitters and mircrolenses or microprisms optically connected to the light emitters. A base layer is configured to be adhered to a vehicle component (e.g., body) and support the solid state light emitters and the microprism layer. Abstract: An actuation system and method of operation for moving a closure panel in one of a normal drive state and a back drive state are provided. The actuation system includes a mechanical coupling for moving the closure panel. A motor with a shaft is directly and operably connected to the mechanical coupling to directly move the mechanical coupling. A sensor detects movement of the closure panel and couples to a controller connected to the motor. The controller moves the closure panel with the motor based on a detected motor movement command in the normal drive mode. The controller also detects movement of the closure panel using the at least one sensor and selectively brakes the movement of the closure panel based on the movement detected in the back drive state.

Abstract: A cable-operated drive mechanism for a vehicle sliding closure panel includes a housing and a motor configured to selectively rotate an output shaft. A cable drum is supported in the housing for rotation in response to rotation of the output shaft. A first cable coupled to the cable drum extends through a first cable port for operable attachment to the vehicle sliding closure panel. An adjuster pulley in the housing is moveable between assembly and installed positions. A second cable coupled to the cable drum engages the adjuster pulley and extends, in non-reversed bending fashion, through a second cable port for operable attachment to the vehicle sliding closure panel. The second cable has an assembly free-length when the adjuster pulley is in the assembly position and an installed free-length when the adjuster pulley is in the installed position, with the installed free-length being less than the assembly free-length.

Abstract: A power drive mechanism includes an electric motor configured to rotate a drive member, a housing having an inner wall bounding a cavity, and an extensible actuation member linearly moveable in a first direction to move a vehicle swing door in an opening direction and in a second direction to move the vehicle swing door in a closing direction. A clutch/brake assembly is disposed in the cavity of the housing. The clutch/brake assembly operably connects the drive member with the extensible actuation member. The clutch/brake assembly is moveable from a disengaged state, whereat the extensible actuation member is inhibited from moving relative to the housing, to an engaged state, whereat the extensible actuation member moves relative to the housing. The clutch/brake assembly moves mechanically from the engaged state to the disengaged state in response to the electric motor changing from the energized state to the de-energized state.

Abstract: A power actuator for a latch of a motor vehicle closure panel has an electric motor to rotate a lead screw about an axis. A nut is disposed about the lead screw for selective translation along the lead screw. A clutch plate is configured for selective rotation about the axis when engaged with the nut, with a biasing member biasing the nut out of engagement with the clutch plate when the electric motor is de-energized. A carrier member is coupled with the nut to cause the nut to translate into engagement with the clutch plate during rotation of the lead screw, whereupon the nut and carrier member co-rotate with the clutch plate and leadscrew. A driven member is operably coupled with the clutch plate and with the latch via a cable/rod, such that the driven member maintains the latch in a cinched state when the electric motor is energized.

Abstract: A lifter plate assembly for a motor vehicle window and method of assembly thereof is provided. The lifter plate assembly includes a main body having a rail guide hook for sliding receipt of window regulator rails. A pair of opposed spring fingers are disposed in the rail guide hook for biased engagement with the window regulator rails. A resilient cushion supports the spring fingers against yielding to maintain the spring fingers in biased engagement with the widow regulator rails. A window bracket is configured for fixed attachment to a window and has a tongue configured for sliding and snapping receipt in a receptacle of a window retainer plate of the main body. The receptacle has ribs or grooves and the tongue has the other of grooves or ribs, wherein the ribs and grooves interdigitate with one another to prevent relative fore/aft movement between the window bracket the window retainer plate.

Abstract: A latch assembly for a closure panel of a vehicle includes a power release actuator, a pawl, a ratchet, and a multi-stage geartrain. The multi-stage geartrain includes a first compound gear and a second sector gear in meshed engagement with the compound gear. The sector gear includes an arm extending radially therefrom. In a rest position, a gap is defined between the arm and a cam surface of a pawl. Actuation of the power release actuator actuates the multi-stage geartrain and pivots the arm through the gap and into contact with the pawl. During pivoting through the gap, inertia is increased and the arm contacts the pawl with an impulse force. Continued rotation of the arm causes further rotation of the pawl and release of the ratchet. The arm is disposed within an axial height defined by the multi-stage geartrain, and torque applied to the arm increases during rotation.

Abstract: A system and method for providing access to a vehicle is provided. The system includes a plurality of capacitive sensors circumferentially spaced from one another in a circular arrangement defining a plurality of sensor nodes for receiving a touch input from a user in the form of a touch or a swipe. A controller unit is coupled to the plurality of capacitive sensors and a power source and is in communication with a plurality of vehicle systems and a latch mechanism. The controller unit detects a plurality of changes in capacitance of the plurality of capacitive sensors due to the touch input and determines whether the plurality of changes in capacitance matches a gesture sequence within a predetermined amount of time. The controller unit controls the latch mechanism in response to the communication with vehicle systems and changes in capacitance matching the gesture sequence within the predetermined amount of time.
