Abstract:
Zinc or zinc alloy plated steel sheet ready for deep drawing coated with 1-5 gm/m.sup.2 of a dry, tack free continuous thermoplastic acrylic coating. The coating is formed by inductively heating the sheet to a temperature of about 149.degree.-246.degree. C. for no more than 10 seconds after being roll coated with a continuous liquid film of an aqueous solution including an acrylic polymer. The acrylic coating forms a protective film that is impervious to moisture, oil, and dirt, is able to be welded and adhesively bonded and possesses sufficient toughness and lubricity to allow deformation of the sheet without additional external lubricant. A deep drawn article formed from the sheet has enhanced painting characteristics after the acrylic coating is removed and the article is coated with a phosphate coating.

Abstract:
A high solids lubricant system suitable for use in aqueous lubricating systems is disclosed. The high solids lubricant first gels and then solubilizes in the aqueous lubricant stream. In a preferred embodiment, the aqueous stream further contains a water conditioning system.
Abstract:
Preconditioned automatic transmission fluids are made by using a preblend formed by heating an alkenyl succinimide or succinamide dispersant with a phosphorus ester and water to partially hydrolyze the ester and then mixing the preblend and other additives with a base oil.
Abstract:
Concentrated liquid and solid lubricating compositions having superior compatability with synthetic polymeric packaging materials, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), linear high density polyethylene (LHDPE), polystyrene, polymeric coated papers, and the like, can include 1 to 50 wt % of a fatty acid diamine salt having the formula [(R.sup.1)(R.sup.2)N(R.sup.5)NH(R.sup.3)(R.sup.4)].sup.+ (R.sup.6 COO).sup.- or [(R.sup.1)(R.sup.2)NH(R.sup.5)NH(R.sup.3)(R.sup.4)].sup.++ (R.sup.6 COO).sub.2.sup.- wherein R.sup.1 is a C.sub.10-18 aliphatic group; R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are independently hydrogen or an alkoxy group containing one to five alkylene oxide units; R.sup.5 is a C.sub.1-5 alkylene group; and R.sup.6 is a C.sub.10-18 aliphatic group. The lubricating compositions are particularly useful on the load bearing surfaces of conveyor belts used in the bottling of carbonated beverages in polyethylene terephthalate bottles.

Abstract:
In the cold rolling oils for steel sheets of the present invention, when 0.2-5% by weight of a high molecular nonionic surfactant having a molecular weight of 2000-15000 and an HLB value of 5-9, as well as 0.2-5% by weight of another nonionic surfactant having 12-16 HLB value, are incorporated with a cold rolling oil as emulsifying and dispersing agents, anti-coalescence of oil particles emulsified and dispersed are remarkably improved, and they are less affected by inclusion of iron powder so that excellent stability with time in an emulsified and dispersed state is obtained, as well as that its plateout is significantly improved. Further, the concentration of the resulting cold rolling oils does not decrease, even in case of weak stirring force, so that stable performance with time are obtained. In addition, when 0.1-10% by weight of an acetylene glycol nonionic surfactant is further incorporated with the above-described cold rolling oils for steel sheets of the invention, adverse effects due to inclusion of iron powder are safely avoided.
