Abstract: An audio device worn in a piercing in an ear of a user. The audio device extends through the piercing and includes a wireless communications unit disposed at a first end and a sound-production unit coupled to an opposite second end thereof. The signal path from a master device to the sound-production unit for producing audio outputs thus passes through the pinna of the ear. The sound-production unit may include an ornamental cover such that the device can be worn as jewelry. The speaker and the wireless communications unit may be removable from a body of the device to enable the body to be worn alone as jewelry and to allow replacement of the wireless communications unit with a wired connection. The device may include a control surface useable to provide inputs to the master device coupled to the device.

Abstract: An active awareness control system and method for a helmet with a rigid shell that spatially divides a shell interior from a shell ambiance includes receiving at least one playback-sound signal, generating in the shell interior from the at least one playback-sound signal playback sound, and receiving and processing at least one ambient-sound signal representative of sound occurring in the shell ambience to detect the at least one desired-sound signal. The generation of the at least one playback sound is put on hold when the at least one desired-sound pattern is detected.

Abstract: A wearable telecommunication device configured as an electronic necklace in a form of an open or closed neck loop comprising electronic components and connected to two in-ear earphones. The point of connection of the proximal end of the earphone cords to the neck loop is on the dorsal neck surface. An additional cord connection node positioned under the user's occiput, which allows the earphones and the cords to be secured when the earphones are operational, and reduces excursion of the loose portions of the cords, thus providing the device to be non-changing appearance of the user. Ferromagnetic inserts allow the earphones and the cords to be secured when non-operational, for the device to be hidden. The device may be embodied as a wireless headset for a mobile telecommunication device, a telecommunication device itself, an audio player, a CB radio station, a part of a personal health or security system, etc.

Abstract: Active noise reduction systems and methods for a helmet with a rigid shell that spatially divides a shell interior from a shell ambiance include receiving at least one desired-sound signal representative of at least one desired sound pattern occurring in the shell ambience, and generating, based on the at least one desired-sound signal, anti-sound that is configured to interact with internal sound occurring in the shell interior through superposition. The internal sound includes first internal sound components and second internal sound components, the first internal sound components not corresponding to the at least one desired sound pattern and the second internal sound components corresponding to the at least one desired sound pattern. The anti-sound is further configured to attenuate the first internal sound components, and to amplify, not attenuate, or attenuate to a lesser degree than the first internal sound components the second internal sound components.

Abstract: System and method for analyzing audio data are provided. The audio data may be analyzed to identify speech prosody. For example, the audio data may be analyzed to select a portion of the audio data containing speech produced by a first speaker. The audio data may be further analyzed to identify speech prosody of the speech within the selected portion. Feedbacks and reports may be provided based on the identified speech prosody.
