Abstract:
Tension monitoring is described using a sensor which may exhibit an offset for which compensation may be provided to produce a zero voltage amplified output or to increase dynamic range. An arrangement determines whether a power reset is responsive to a battery bounce such that an initially-measured system start-up parameter can be retained. The start-up parameter is automatically saved at start-up if the power reset is responsive to a start-up from a shut-down condition. The start-up parameter may be a zero tension amplified output responsive to the sensor offset at zero tension. Protection of a tension data set is provided such that no opportunity for altering the data set is presented prior to transfer of the data set. A housing configuration forms part of an electrical power circuit for providing electrical power to an electronics package from a battery.

An external force detecting device comprises a hollow-cylindrical support section, an action section disposed centrally inside the support section, and an optical displacement sensor which includes, at the action section on its center axis: a light source to emit a light beam in a direction along the center axis of the action section; a light branching member to branch the light beam into three light beams to progress respectively in three directions oriented at an equi-angular distance; and a light reflecting member to reflect the three light beams in a direction parallel to a plane perpendicular to the center axis, and which also includes, at the support section, three light receiving elements arranged in a rotation-symmetric manner at a 120 degree interval with their light receiving faces looking toward the center axis of the action section so as to receive respectively the three light beams reflected.
Abstract:
A seat occupant sensor for use in automotive occupant restraint systems. The sensor has a sensing plate cantilevered by a stationary part installed on a vehicle body to be bent upon application of a weight load of an occupant on a seat. The sensor is equipped with a stopper mechanism which works to stop the sensing plate from bending out of a predetermined range in which the sensing plate is allowed to undergo a maximum bending stress within a bending stress limit of the sensing plate, thereby avoiding undesirable deflection or fracture of the sensing plate.
Abstract:
An arrangement for the detection of relative movements of two objects with four measuring cells as vertical measuring device for the detection of a relative movement perpendicular to an imaginary plane, with the measuring cells being arranged in such a manner that their vertical projections onto the plane are arranged at an identical angular distance from each other about a centre. Further, a force and/or moment sensor with a first board and a second board which are elastically connected with each other and movable relative to one another.
Abstract:
A piezoelectric flexural sensing structure having increased sensitivity and decreased noise, without sacrifice of the sensor bandwidth. The structure is made up of a proof mass, a beam with a base and optionally having castellated bonding surfaces and two poled bonding mode PMN-PT crystal plates mounted on the beam.

An integrated loadcell system, having a loadcell body having a leg connected to a spanning member, the leg having a transducer mounted thereto and a housing coupled to the loadcell body forming a wheatstone bridge circuit with the transducer; where an output of the wheatstone bridge circuit is indicative of a load experienced by the loadcell body.
Abstract:
A displacement measuring device measures a path of a moving object that can be displaced in a direction has at least one first component that is allocated to the moveable object and a second, stationary component. The components are interlinked for the purpose of converting a movement and/or displacement of the moving object into an electrical signal. The displacement measuring device also has an evaluating device for converting the electrical signal into movement and/or position information. The displacement measuring device has a high degree of accuracy, is not susceptible to wear, is resistant to vibration, shocks, or corrosion and is economical to use in almost all media. To this end, the first component is a spring element connecting the moving object and the second component is a force-measurement device which releases an electrical signal corresponding to the force that is exerted on the spring element.
Abstract:
A force measurement cell having a block-like mechanism unit includes a Roberval mechanism and a lever mechanism formed by cutting out a single piece of parent material. The Roberval mechanism has a fixed part and a movable part on which a measured force acts. A gapped part is formed on either the lever mechanism or the Roberval mechanism following the vertical direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the lever mechanism and the Roberval mechanism, respectively. In addition, a stopper for restricting displacement of either the lever mechanism or Roberval mechanism is fixed to the fixed part of the block-like mechanism unit facing opposite the gapped part with a prescribed gap opened in the axial direction of either the lever mechanism or the Roberval mechanism. Another embodiment, includes a recessed part sinking from a respective side surface of the block-like mechanism unit formed on both side surfaces.
Abstract:
A pressure transducer suitable for use as a component of a passive occupant detection system installed in a passenger vehicle. The transducer comprises first and second contact members separated by a spacing member. The first contact member has on a surface thereof a primary contact comprising first and second terminations and portions spaced apart in a first direction. The second contact member has on a surface thereof a plurality of secondary contacts crossing and facing the spaced-apart portions of the primary contact through an opening in the spacing member. Application of an increasing force causes the contact members to move toward each other, causing an increasing number of the spaced-apart portions to be shorted out by the secondary contacts and causing an increasing number of secondary contacts to contact the primary contact, thereby altering the electrical path between the terminations of the primary contact.
Abstract:
