Abstract: One or more classification algorithms are applied to at least one natural language document in order to extract both attributes and values of a given product. Supervised classification algorithms, semi-supervised classification algorithms, unsupervised classification algorithms or combinations of such classification algorithms may be employed for this purpose. The at least one natural language document may be obtained via a public communication network. Two or more attributes (or two or more values) thus identified may be merged to form one or more attribute phrases or value phrases. Once attributes and values have been extracted in this manner, association or linking operations may be performed to establish attribute-value pairs that are descriptive of the product. In a presently preferred embodiment, an (unsupervised) algorithm is used to generate seed attributes and values which can then support a supervised or semi-supervised classification algorithm.

Abstract: A manual controller commands a telescope mount to automatically track a specific bright star after the image of the star is located to center of an electronic eyepiece and a timer is started. The average moving speed of the bright star is calculated after a predetermined elapsed time to acquire the right ascension (RA) and the declination (DEC) coordinates of this bright star. Subsequently, the RA and DEC coordinates are compared with pre-stored data contained within a database used to identify the bright star. The celestial sphere coordinates of the telescope can be determined after a minimum of one bright star is identified. In the auto-tracking procedure, the manual controller controls movement of telescope by feedbacks of the drifting speed and direction of the specific bright star in an electronic eyepiece for the purpose of keeping the specific bright star in the center of the electronic eyepiece.

Abstract: An acid or base is generated in an aqueous solution by the steps of: (a) providing a source of first ions adjacent an aqueous liquid in a first acid or base generation zone, separated by a first barrier (e.g., anion exchange membrane) substantially preventing liquid flow and transporting ions only of the same charge as said first ions, (b) providing a source of second ions of opposite charge adjacent an aqueous liquid in a second acid or base generation zone, separated by a second barrier transporting ions only of the same charge as the second ions, and (c) transporting ions across the first barrier by applying an electrical potential through said first and second zones to generate an acid-containing aqueous solution in one of said first or second zones and a base-containing aqueous solution in the other one which may be combined to form a salt. Also, electrolytic apparatus for performing the above method.

Abstract: Solder pastes for providing high elasticity, low rigidity solder joints are disclosed. The solder pastes may be used between two parts having large mismatches in their coefficients of thermal expansion and/or when there is a high likelihood of mechanical deformity when the two parts are soldered together. In one particular exemplary embodiment, a solder paste may be realized as a composition comprising a solder powder and high melting temperature particles with a flux, wherein the ratio between solder powder and high melting temperature particles may be between 2:1 and 1:10.

Abstract: A method and apparatuses for measuring the temperature of a radiating body utilizing the alexandrite effect. The method includes the steps of generating a mathematical relationship between a hue value and temperature for an alexandrite effect filter, receiving radiation from the radiating body, measuring a spectral power distribution of the radiation, calculating the hue value based on the spectral power distribution, and determining the temperature using the mathematical relationship. To implement the method, the apparatuses include an optical probe, a spectral or calorimetric measurement device, and a computer. The apparatuses can measure the temperature of any radiating body with or without spectral lines in the spectral power distribution, and are particularly advantageous to measure high to ultrahigh temperature for radiating bodies with spectral lines, such as plasma, electric arc, and high temperature flames.
