Abstract:
Sulfonimide cure catalysts are used with aminoplast crosslinking agents and resins capable of reacting with aminoplast crosslinking agents to prepare heat curable compositions capable of crosslinking to form coatings and articles. Liquid or solid curable compositions may be prepared. Solid sulfonimide catalysts used in combination with solid glycoluril type crosslinking agents are well suited for powder coating systems containing hydroxy- and carboxy-functional resins.

A thermosetting composition (A) a hydroxyl group-containing resin, (B) an alkoxysilane group-containing copolymer and (C) a curing catalyst. The film of the composition is excellent in not only adhesion, gel percentage and surface hardness but also solvent resistance, acid resistance, and stain resistance.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a multilayer coating is described. The method comprises the steps of:(1) applying onto a substrate a first curable coating composition comprising two components that are reactive with one another to form urethane linkages and a third component that includes one or more epoxy groups,(2) curing the first curable coating composition to form a cured coating,(3) applying a second curable coating composition onto the surface of the coating from step (2), and(4) curing the second curable coating composition.
