    Abstract: An illustrative example elevator assembly includes a header beam and a first elevator cab supported by the header beam. A plurality of vertically oriented rods extend beneath the first elevator cab. A horizontally oriented mid-beam is coupled to a first one of the rods near a first end of the mid-beam and coupled to a second one of the rods near a second end of the mid-beam. A second elevator cab is situated beneath the first elevator cab and beneath the mid-beam. At least one linear actuator is supported at least partially on the mid-beam. The linear actuator selectively causes vertical movement of the second elevator cab relative to the rods.

    Abstract: Elevator systems including an elevator car having a first elevator car door and an openable ceiling, the openable ceiling comprising a ceiling frame and an openable panel, the openable panel moveable from an open position to a closed position relative to the ceiling frame, an imaging device mounted to the openable panel and configured to capture image data of a detection zone that includes at least an opening formed by the first elevator car door when the openable panel is in the closed position, and a display located within the elevator car to display an image associated with the image data received from the imaging device. The openable panel is openable to create an access way that permits access from an interior of the elevator car to a top exterior of the elevator car.

    Abstract: A jumping elevator system and a jumping method used in construction process of building. The jumping method includes preliminarily positioning and mounting, by means of a temporary working platform at a first height, a guide rail on the hoistway substantially corresponding to the first height; removing the temporary working platform from the position, corresponding to the first height, of the hoistway; lifting, by use of a lifting assembly, a jumping platform from a second height to a third height, wherein the third height is greater than the second height and less than or equal to the first height; and lifting, by use of the lifting assembly, the elevator car to extend its traveling distance in the hoistway, and operating, during lifting of the elevator car, on the top of the elevator car for reinforcing the mount of the guide rail.

    Abstract: Elevator toe guard assemblies are provided. The elevator toe guard assemblies include an elevator car frame, a buffer located within an elevator shaft, and a toe guard mounted to the elevator car frame. The toe guard has a first state being a fully extended state, a second state wherein the toe guard does not contact a pit floor during operation of an elevator car, and a third state wherein at least a portion of the toe guard is moved relative to the elevator car frame during an impact between the buffer and the pit floor.
