Abstract:
A support cushion for providing individualized heating and cooling to a user resting on the support cushion is provided. The support cushion includes a body supporting portion, a plurality of thermoelectric elements positioned and configured to selectively provide heating or cooling of the body supporting portion, and a heat dissipating portion that is comprised of a flexible foam having a plurality of cells with a reticulated cellular structure and that is operably connected to the thermoelectric elements. Methods of controlling a surface temperature of a support cushion are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fabric arrangement and pillow designed to prevent skin lines and wrinkle formation while improving sleep using combinations of fabrics, cooling technologies and scents. The present invention is designed with a specific fabric and materials combination that create a surface in which the shear stresses causing skin lines and wrinkles are eliminated. Multiple layers make up the fabric arrangement include a top layer comprising a stretchable material and a second layer comprising a low friction material relative to the first layer. Supporting the first two layer is a support layer such as foam. Lower layers may comprise a cooling material, an antimicrobial or anti-allergenic material and a scent layer.
Abstract:
A personal seasonal pillow for accommodating different temperatures occurring during different seasons is disclosed comprising a cool side and a warm side opposite the cool side. A gel layer is associated with the cool side containing a fluid gel, and a layer of insulating fill is associated with the warm side. A cool side indicator is associated with the cool side; and a warm side indicator is associated with the warm side whereby the person may easily identify the desired side.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to devices and methods that use cooling and/or heating systems in pillows. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems that can constantly transport a fluid throughout a pillow in order to keep the fluid at a desired temperature. In order to start the cooling/heating process, a cooling/heating device can use fluid from a tank or reservoir that can be cooled/heated by a radiator. This fluid can then exit the system, be filtered through a hose or line, and then enter the pillow itself. After flowing through the entire pillow, the fluid can be transported out of the pillow and back to the cooling/heating device. By utilizing such a design, the cooling/heating system can keep the fluid moving throughout the pillow and at a desired temperature. As such, the pillow can also maintain a corresponding desired temperature.
Abstract:
Particular infant support or nursing pillows are disclosed, for supporting an infant in a variety of settings by providing a stable surface upon which to rest. Various embodiments include a generally crescent shaped device, including a resilient fill material surrounded by a fabric shell and having a top and a bottom surface connected by a band of uniform width extending vertically and wholly about the perimeter of the pillow. The support pillow may be combined with an accessory device to form a support pillow assembly. An attachment mechanism may be configured to attach the accessory device to the support pillow such that the accessory device is arranged to direct a perceptible effect to at least one of the first arm, the second arm, and the medial region of the support pillow.
Abstract:
An innovative pillow which contains openings for a person to place their face as well as side openings which enable air to enter the cavity so that the person can breathe. The device contains a fan which blows air into the cavity of the pillow so that a person can have cooling air while their face is in the pillow. The device can also be impregnated with essential oils such as eucalyptus so that the various beneficial therapeutic effects can be blown into a person's face while they rest their face within the pillow.
Abstract:
A pillow includes an upper surface having a raised edge proximate the upper and lower edges of the upper surface and at least one cut out through one of the raised edges. The pillow includes a recessed surface in the upper surface for supporting the back surface of the user's neck and cranium and the sides of the user's head. The pillow includes at least one internal armature that is flexible and bendable such that the pillow can be manipulated into a selected configuration with manual force. The pillow can be configured from a substantially flat configuration and into a substantially “U” shape where left and right edges are in front of the user's face. In the “U” shaped configuration, the user can roll from side to side while the pillow remains in direct contact and rolls uniformly with the user's head maintaining support for both the neck and head and thereby provide a more comfortable rest or sleep.
Abstract:
An anatomical body pillow designed to assist with the physical comfort of a practitioner lying on his or her side or back. The first embodiment comprises a torso portion with arm sections to support the user's neck, shoulders and head. The arm sections may be full-length or shorter sections, while the torso region includes quilt stitching to provide anatomical definition and a plurality of pockets. A second embodiment of the device includes a lower body pillow with a waist area and leg sections. The waist may be used as a pillow for a user's head while the leg portions act as arm supports. A faux skirt is attached to the waist region to provide an optional eye covering. Heat packs, cold packs, fragrance sachets and other devices may be inserted into pockets provided in both embodiments, supplying a user with physical and therapeutic comfort while resting in a prone position.
