Abstract:
A product obtainable by transferring groups of formula (G-I) being present in a block oligomer having a polydispersity {overscore (M)}w/{overscore (M)}n of 1 to 1.7 and corresponding to formula (I) to groups of formula (Gu-II), wherein R1 is a hydrocarbyl radical or —O—R1 is oxyl; said transfer is carried out by reaction of the block oligomer with a hydroperoxide in a hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of a peroxide decomposing catalyst; n is a number from 2 to 14; R2 is for example C2-C12alkylene; A is for example —N(R4)(R5); R4 and R5 are for example C1-C18alkyl; R is preferably a group of formula (G-I) and B and B* have one of the meanings given for A; with the proviso that in the individual recurrent units of formula (I), each of the radicals B, R and R2 has the same or a different meaning. The products are useful as light stabilizers, heat stabilizers and oxidation stabilizers for organic materials, in particular synthetic polymers.
Abstract:
A composition containing polypropylene prepared by polymerization over a metallocene catalyst or a polypropylene copolymer prepared by polymerization over a metallocene catalyst, and a stabilizer mixture comprising (A) for example the compound of the formula (A-I-1-a) 1 wherein n1 is a number from 2 to 20; and (B) for example the compound of the formula (B-I-2-a). 2
Abstract:
A radiation-resistant polyolefin composition which includes (i) a polyolefin; and (ii) a radiation-stabilizing amount of at least one aliphatic, unsaturated compound having at least one unsaturation site, the compound having a molecular weight of at least 200 and an iodine number of at least 25. Suitable aliphatic, unsaturated compounds include soybean oil, safflower oil, squalene, polybutadiene, a tertiary amine having at least one aliphatic, unsaturated fatty-acid-derived substituent, oleamide, calcium oleate, erucyl erucamide and glycerol monooleate. A saturated mobilizing compound is preferably included in the composition, which can advantageously be used in the manufacture of fibers, films, and medical devices such as syringes, tube assemblies, tissue culture flasks, and packaging film.
Abstract:
Oligomeric or polymeric siloxanes of the formula I ##STR1## if X is a monovalent radical, or which are correspondingly crosslinked, if X is a polyvalent radical, whose repeating units are arranged randomly or in blocks, which contain hydroxy-phenyl-diaryl-s-triazine moieties, are useful as stabilizers for organic material against damage thereto by light, oxygen and heat; and especially as stabilizers for coating materials.
Abstract:
A radiation-resistant polypropylene resin composition is disclosed which comprises a polypropylene having a substantially syndiotactic structure, and if desired, a phosphorus-containing anti-oxidant, an amine-containing anti-oxidant and/or a nucleating agent. Molded articles obtained from this resin composition can be utilized as containers for foods and medicines, and their physical properties scarcely deteriorate during sterilization by radiation.

Abstract:
Compounds containing a 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl group and a method of making them. The compounds are effective for the protection of organic polymers against degradation due to light and ultraviolet radiation.
Abstract:
UV stabilized polyphenylene ether polymers and blends thereof are provided by this invention. This is accomplished by bonding UV absorbers directly to the polyphenylene ether chain or by polymerizing monomers to which the UV absorbers are bound.
