Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for the production of curable masses, containing coarse-scale and/or nanoscale, coated, de-agglomerated magnesium hydroxide particles. More precisely, the present invention relates to a method for the production of curable masses, whereby coarse-scale and/or nanoscale, precoated magnesium hydroxide particles in an aqueous or organic solvent are treated with ultrasound or subjected to bead-mill grinding in the presence of a dispersant. After any drying that might be necessary, and renewed suspension/dispersion in an organic solvent, the magnesium hydroxide particles are worked into a component of a curable mass. Furthermore, the present invention is directed at a method for the production of a cured polymer material. Finally, the present invention makes available curable masses, polymer materials produced from them, particularly duroplastics or thermoplastics, as well as composite material containing curable masses or polymer materials produced according to the invention, as well as reinforcement agents.

Abstract:
An aqueous dispersion includes an associative thickener based on a hydrophobically modified poly(acetal- or ketal-polyether) (HM-PAPE) and at least one viscosity reducing agent selected from ethoxylated alcohols, ethoxylated acetyleneic diols, phosphate esters, dialkyl sulfosuccinates, and mixtures thereof. This aqueous dispersion improves the incorporation of the HM-PAPEs into aqueous based protective coatings. This dispersion also improves water-borne coating compositions that optionally contain latex.
Abstract:
An aqueous composition contains an olefinic polymer having an olefin portion that is substantially saturated and anionic functionality imparting water dispersibility. The olefinic polymer can be prepared by reacting a saturated or substantially saturated olefin polymer with a reactant that provides the water-dispersing functionality. The composition can be an adhesion promoter that provides excellent adhesion of subsequent coating layers to olefinic substrates like TPO or an additive in a different coating composition, which may be a curable coating composition, especially a primer composition, to provide excellent adhesion to olefinic substrates like TPO.
Abstract:

Various applications of the dispersion are also disclosed.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for preparing aqueous, hydroxy-functional polyester-polyacrylate dispersions having a cosolvent content of 0 to 5% by weight, based on the weight of the dispersion, by preparing a polymer P) in a first step by polymerizing A) a mixture of vinyl monomers that are capable of free-radical copolymerization, in the presence of B) one or more compound(s) of formula (I) wherein R1 is an aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R2 is H or CH3, R3 and R4 are identical or different aliphatic radicals having 1 to 7 carbon atoms, and n is 1 to 4, and then mixing polymer P) in a second step with C) one or more polyester polyols having a hydroxyl number of 10 to 500 mg KOH/g solids and an acid number of >0.5 to ≦30 mg KOH/g solids, and dispersing the resulting polymer mixture in water in a further step, before or after addition of a neutralizing agent. The present invention also relates to the aqueous polyester-polyacrylate polymer dispersions obtained in accordance with the process of the invention and to aqueous coating compositions containing the aqueous polyester-polyacrylate polymer dispersions of the invention.
