Abstract:
A conveyor belt includes a bottom fabric layer having a lower first surface forming a backside of the conveyor belt and an upper first surface, wherein the lower first surface is impregnated with an impregnation having: a) one or more thermoplastic polyolefins selected from the group consisting of ethene homopolymers, propene homopolymers, ethene/α-olefin copolymers, propene/α-olefin copolymers and terpolymers of ethene with two or more different α-olefins; and b) a thermoplastic polymeric dispersing agent containing repetitive units derived from at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer of a comparatively lipophilic nature and from at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer of a comparatively hydrophilic nature and earring an anionic carboxylate group. A process for the manufacture of such belts includes applying the thermoplastic polyolefin(s) and the thermoplastic polymeric dispersing agent as an aqueous dispersion and heating the lower first surface having the dispersion applied thereonto.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a polytetrafluoroethylene aqueous dispersion containing high-molecular-weight, significantly small polytetrafluoroethylene particles and having excellent dispersion stability. The present invention relates to an aqueous dispersion containing polytetrafluoroethylene particles containing a tetrafluoroethylene unit alone or a tetrafluoroethylene unit and a modifying monomer unit based on a modifying monomer copolymerizable with the tetrafluoroethylene. The polytetrafluoroethylene particles have a volume average particle size of not smaller than 0.1 nm but smaller than 20 nm, a melt flow rate of not lower than 0 g/10 min but lower than 80 g/10 min determined at 380° C. and 5 kg load, a melting point of 324° C. to 360° C., and an initial pyrolysis temperature of not lower than 400° C.
Abstract:
The present invention provides fluorinated compounds as well as dispersions of the fluorinated compounds. The fluorinated compounds described herein, in some embodiments, can be applied substrates such as textiles, including carpet and other floor coverings.
Abstract:
The present invention provides substantially formaldehyde free aqueous thermosetting binder resins from resorcinol and cycloaliphatic dialdehydes, glutaraldehyde or their mixtures and urea which may be excluded or included up to amounts which deter hot wet tensile strength in the cured binder. The compositions provide binders that on a performance cost basis are equivalent to phenol formaldehyde resins but without the formaldehyde.
Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide a method of producing a fluoropolymer aqueous dispersion having a significantly small particle size and excellent dispersion stability without using a long-chain fluorosurfactant. The present invention relates to a method of producing an aqueous dispersion containing at least one fluoropolymer selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene and melt-processible fluororesins excluding polytetrafluoroethylene. The method includes polymerizing a fluoromonomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of a fluorosurfactant having a Log POW value of not higher than 3.4 and a polymerization initiator. The amount of the fluorosurfactant corresponds to 4600 to 500000 ppm of the aqueous medium.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an economical route to environmentally friendly polymeric coatings with a high content of raw materials from renewable resources. These polymeric coatings offer performance characteristics that are competitive with conventional coating systems. The unique polymers on which this invention is based are copolymers of triglyceride oils, such as soybean oil, linseed oil, or another natural oil, with a vinyl compound, such as an acrylate or methacrylate, or a vinyl aromatic monomer. The present invention more specifically discloses a water dispersible, self-crosslinkable prepolymer composition which is comprised of a triglyceride oil having appended thereto (1) hydroxyl groups, (2) epoxy groups, (3) moieties which contain at least one aldehyde group or at least one ketone group, and (4) moieties which contain at least one vinyl and/or substituted vinyl group. In one embodiment of this invention the moiety which contains at least one vinyl group is derived from maleic anhydride.
