Abstract:
Metal oxide paste co-dispersions comprising a mixture of magnesium oxide and zinc oxide, a nonaqueous liquid vehicle and a surface active agent are described. The pastes are useful as curing or vulcanizing agents for halogen-containing polymers such as neoprene. A method is described for obtaining storage stable neoprene.
Abstract:
An interrupter for use in telephone signalling systems or the like is comprised entirely of solid state circuitry to perform switching functions to provide from a plurality of AC and DC input signals respective interrupted activating output signals at selected frequencies and for selected duty cycles during cyclical occurrence of each output signal. The solid state interrupter uses a unique binary counting sequence which minimizes the decoding logic required to attain the numerous interruption patterns in the interrupted activating output signals. The logic circuit includes a clock oscillator, J-K flip-flop binary counter, feedback logic, and decode output logic circuit portions including NAND and NOR gate configurations and the gating circuit includes transistorized circuits for selected switching of DC signals and for controlling solid state relays for selected switching of AC signals.
Abstract:
1. A PASTE CO-DISPERSION COMPRISING A MIXTURE OF FROM ABOUT 30 TO ABOUT 80 PARTS BY WEIGHT OF MAGNESIUM OXIDE AND FROM ABOUT 10 TO ABOUT 60 PARTS BY WEIGHT OF ZINC OXIDE, THE OXIDES HAVING AN AVERAGE PARTICLE SIZE OF UP TO ABOUT 10 MICRONS, A NON-AQUEOUS LIQUID VEHICLE, AND AN OIL-SOLUBLE OR OIL-DISPERSIBLE SURFACE ACTIVE AGENT.
Abstract:
A PROCESS FOR REMOVING SULFUR DIOXIDE (SO2) FROM GASES AND RECOVERING ELEMENTAL SULFUR COMPRISING SCRUBBING THE GASES WITH A SLURRY CONTAINING A METAL SULFIDE UNDER CONDITIONS TO REACT THE SULFUR DIOXIDE WITH THE SULFIDE TO FORM A PRECIPITATE WHICH IS PREDOMINANTLY METAL SULFITE AND ELEMETAL SULFUR. A PORTION OF THE SLURRY IS WITHDRAWN AND THE PRECIPITATE IS SEPARATED THEREFROM. THE REMAINING SLURRY IS RECYCLED FOR REACTION WITH ADDITIONAL SULFUR DIOXIDE AND THE PRECIPITATE IS HEATED UNDER CONDITIONS TO REMOVE WATER THEREFROM AND CONVERT ANY METAL THIOSULFATE THEREIN TO ADDITIONAL SULFITE AND ELEMENTAL SULFUR. SOME METAL SULFATE MAY BE PRESENT. THE ELEMENTAL SULFUR IS SEPARATED, AND THE SULFITE ARE THEN REDUCED TO THE SULFIDE WHICH IS RECYCLED TO THE SCRUBBING SLURRY. PREFERABLY, THE METAL SULFIDE IS AN ALKALI SULFIDE OR ALKALINE EARTH SULFIDE.
Abstract:
In the production of ceramically bonded basic refractories, basic refractory particles are bonded together with a temporary binder. The temporary binder includes a substantially completely neutralized pitch, which may be a tall oil pitch or a fatty acid pitch, and may also include cylinder lube stock and/or an asphalt binder oil.
