Abstract:
A method of determining cluster attractors for a plurality of documents comprising at least one term. The method comprises calculating, in respect of each term, a probability distribution indicative of the frequency of occurrence of the, or each, other term that co-occurs with said term in at least one of said documents. Then, the entropy of the respective probability distribution is calculated. Finally, at least one of said probability distributions is selected as a cluster attractor depending on the respective entropy value. The method facilitates very small clusters to be formed enabling more focused retrieval during a document search.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are biomarkers for determining gamma radiation exposure by an animal or human. The biomarkers include 3-hydroxy-2-methylbenzoic acid 3-O-sulfate, N-hexanoylglycine, β-thymidine, taurine, xanthine, xanthosine, 2′-deoxyuridine, 2′-deoxycytidine, 2′-deoxyxanthosine, or any salt, ion, or combination thereof. Also disclosed are methods for determining gamma radiation exposure by an animal or human, which include the step of measuring the amount of one or more biomarkers specific to gamma radiation in the biological fluid and correlating the amount of said biomarkers to the amount of gamma radiation exposure by the animal or human. Systems for determining gamma radiation exposure by an animal or human and methods of treating an animal or human for gamma radiation exposure are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A unified approach, a fusion technique, a space-time constraint, a methodology, and system architecture are provided. The unified approach is to fuse the outputs of monocular and stereo video trackers, RFID and localization systems and biometric identification systems. The fusion technique is provided that is based on the transformation of the sensory information from heterogeneous sources into a common coordinate system with rigorous uncertainties analysis to account for various sensor noises and ambiguities. The space-time constraint is used to fuse different sensor using the location and velocity information. Advantages include the ability to continuously track multiple humans with their identities in a large area. The methodology is general so that other sensors can be incorporated into the system. The system architecture is provided for the underlying real-time processing of the sensors.
Abstract:
A metal tank cap is integral with a reinforcing member via a narrow connection and covers an open end of the tank with adjacent reinforcement members being spaced from one another along each side of the core. The reinforcing members each have a pair of flanges extending outwardly from the sides thereof and have openings therein for receiving mounting anchors.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus for disintegrating bales of agricultural material such as hay. The apparatus has a a chassis, a processing tub with a discharge opening located in one of its side walls, a disintegrator mounted in the processing tub to disintegrate baled crop material positioned within the tub and discharge the processed bale material out the discharge opening and a manipulator mounted within the processing tub adapted to manipulate the baled crop material to expose different parts thereof to the disintegrator. The processing tub is adapted to be mounted on the chassis such that the discharge opening can be positioned on either the left or right side of the chassis. In an embodiment of the invention, the processing tub is sized to accommodated a large square bale lengthwise therein or two or more round bales. The apparatus is also provided with an adjustable fork lift to raise bales of different configurations into the processing tube and a hydraulic selector valve such that two sets of hydraulic systems on the processor can be operated by a single hydraulic line from a tractor or other power source.
Abstract:
An automated teller machine (10) or a home banking system (32) is operated to provide, during the delays associated with authorizing and acting upon a user instruction, a sales presentation related to a financial product. The type of presentation is selected by matching a profile of the user, obtained from a central information store (20), with profiles of target customers for a number of financial products.
Abstract:
Compounds and methods for the treatment of cancer and viral diseases include the administration of viral proteins having substantial homology to BNRF1, FGARAT and/or PRAT. The proteins of the present invention and the nucleic acids encoding such proteins are useful to treat various cancers and uncontrolled cell growth, as well as viral infections, including AIDS. Assays of the present invention are useful in identifying inhibitors of interactions between telomerase, telomeres and viral proteins, especially those that are similar to proteins participating in purine synthesis.

Abstract:
A system and method for operating various farming devices at a location remote from the device. A hand-held radio transmitter is programmed to transmit Dual Tone Multiple Frequency tones in specific patterns so as to communicate directions to a controller located at the power plant of the farming device. The controller is formed by a companion microprocessor which is used to receive and decode and also encode and transmit Dual Tone Multiple Frequency tones, and a primary microprocessor which is used to monitor decoded Dual Tone Multiple Frequency tones and then control the power plant and transmission of the farming device. Directions transmitted from the hand-held radio transceiver to the controller can, in various embodiments of the present invention, direct such functions as, for example, moving of an irrigation wheel-line, turning off and on the engine of the wheel-line, starting and stopping pumps of a pump system, monitoring the moisture levels in soils.
