Abstract:
In a solid state image pickup apparatus, a read bus consists of, for instance, four lines of split buses and one line of integrated bus. This integrated bus can be connected to the four lines of split buses. Electrical connection between the integrated bus and each of the split buses is selected by a corresponding switching element. Thus, the number of switching elements connected to one split bus can be reduced and hence the capacitance of the split bus can be reduced. This allows pixel signals to be read out at a higher speed.

A sintered porous metal filter permitting passage of gases therethrough comprises a filter portion having specified pores for trapping dust as separated from the gas to be treated, and a support portion for supporting the filter portion, the support portion having pores greater than the pores of the filter portion to diminish the pressure loss of the gas to be treated, the filter portion comprising metal particles of small diameter, the support portion comprising metal particles having a greater diameter than the filter portion forming metal particles, the filter portion and the support portion being formed to provide an outer side and an inner side integral therewith by sintering the two kinds of metal particles by hot isostatic pressing. A catalyst reaction portion for rendering noxious components of the gas to be treated harmless is formed in the filter portion or the support portion, or as an independent catalyst layer.
Abstract:
The challenge of the present invention is to suppress a variation in brightness of an image and make a reference value of a black level converge at an appropriate value in a short time. A condition judgment circuit judges whether or not a frame of an amount of change in gains of a variable gain amplifier being equal to or greater than a threshold continues for a predefined frames or more. If a frame of an amount of change in the gains being equal to or greater than the threshold continues for the predefined frames, a black level value of the current frame is set for new black level reference. If not continues for the predetermined number, the previous black level reference value is retained in lieu of correcting the black level.

Abstract:
The control inputs of reset switch elements 41 to 45 are commonly connected to a row reset line 51. In a line black clamp type, cathodes as reset ends of photodiodes (31) of optical black pixels 21 to 23 are commonly connected to a potential averaging line 30. In a frame black clamp type, potential averaging lines are connected similarly to respective pixel rows on the vertical scanning start side of an optical black pixel region, and the potential averaging lines may be commonly connected to each other to operate just like one pixel row. A first block includes a pixel array and a vertical scanning circuit, while a second block includes sample and hold circuits, a horizontal scanning circuit, an amplifier and an A/D converter 19. In a low power consumption mode, power supply to the second block is ceased in a light integration period of one frame with performing light integration in the pixel array, power supply to the first and second blocks is performed in a read-out period of one frame to read out integrated signals, and power supply to the first and second blocks is ceased in a power-off period of one frame.
Abstract:
In an image sensor provided with an AD conversion circuit in each column, the offset value of each AD conversion circuit disposed in each column is corrected, using a value based on the output in each column of a plurality of lines composed of shielded pixels in order to provide an effective method for reducing vertically-striped noise due to the variation of the offset element of the AD conversion circuit.
Abstract:
A second source follower circuit of a reference voltage generator includes a transistor having the same characteristics as a first source follower circuit of a pixel. Accordingly, the second source follower circuit can generate a second reference voltage according to the change in characteristics of the first source follower circuit. A noise voltage switching circuit outputs a first voltage as a noise voltage to a pixel signal generator when the noise voltage is equal to or lower than the second reference voltage. In a reset state, the noise voltage and the second reference voltage always have a predetermined voltage difference. Therefore, deterioration in image quality can be prevented even when capturing a subject having high brightness. Since a trimming circuit or the like selecting any one of a plurality of reference voltages according to characteristics of a formed transistor becomes unnecessary, the cost of an imaging device can be reduced.
Abstract:
A CMOS image sensor of the present invention comprises an array of a picture element circuit, a unit of correlated double sampling one picture element line of the array, a charge pump type voltage up unit of supplying a predetermined step-up voltage to the picture element circuit that forms an array and a prevention unit of preventing the noise caused by a pumping operation of the charge pump type voltage up unit. The prevention unit may be a prohibition unit of prohibiting a pumping operation of the charge pump type voltage up unit. In the case where the charge pump type voltage up unit comprises a voltage up circuit for assigning a voltage up output in accordance with an assigned clock and a clock generation circuit for generating a clock in such a way that the voltage up output matches with the predetermined upped voltage, the prohibition unit of prohibiting a pumping operation may comprise a not-assignment unit of not assigning an output of the clock generation unit to the voltage up circuit.
