Abstract:
An automated banking machine is part of a banking system that operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. The machine includes a card reader that operates to read data from user cards corresponding to financial accounts. A card account's status is listed in a data store as either blocked or unblocked for use in approving transactions on the account. A transaction on an account cannot be carried out unless the account has an unblocked status. Similarly, no transaction is carried out on an account having a blocked status. Read card data is sent from the machine to a remote card security computer which determines the card account status from the data store. If the account is unblocked, then the machine can continue with the transaction and seek transaction approval from a host computer associated with the automated banking machine.
Abstract:
A portable hand tool includes a housing with a handle configured to be carried by a user and a motor with a motor shaft rotatably extending therefrom. An output shaft rotatably connected to the motor shaft, upon which a cutting blade is rotatably fixed. The cutting blade is substantially enclosed within a blade guard. An impeller is rotatably mounted with one of the motor shaft or the output shaft and substantially enclosed within a fan housing. A plenum is configured to provide enclosed fluid communication between the blade guard and the fan housing, and at least one aperture defined in the blade guard in communication with the plenum.

An automated banking machine (10) includes a user interface (15). The automated banking machine (10) may include a concealment device (350) carried on the fascia to limit the viewing of inputs made to a user input device such as a keypad (18).
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aqueous sizing composition comprising (a) an emulsion comprising an alkenylsuccinic anhydride component containing alkenylsuccinic anhydride particles suspended in a first starch component containing emulsifying starch selected from the group consisting of non-ionic starches, ionic starches, and mixtures thereof, and (b) a second starch component selected from the group consisting of non-ionic starches, ionic starches and mixtures thereof, such that the alkenylsuccinic anhydride and the starch in the emulsion and the second starch component are present at a starch: alkenylsuccinic anhydride weight ratio that is sufficiently high to enable the sizing composition to impart useful sizing properties to a fibrous substrate when the sizing composition contacts the fibrous substrate. The invention also relates to fibrous substrates treated with the sizing composition, processes for making the composition and processes for using such a composition, and other compositions. In one embodiment, alkylene ketene dimer is used instead of alkenylsuccinic anhydride.
Abstract:
A movement and sound monitor and stimulator which is particularly useful for preventing death in human infants from sudden infant death syndrome is disclosed. The movement and sound monitor and stimulator has a base member which may be a fluid-filled sensing pad for supporting the infant or other animate object which is being monitored and a transducer positioned for detecting movement or acoustic activity (e.g., heartbeat, breathing) of the object on the base member to provide an output signal in response to forces applied thereto which are generated by such movement. A circuit is connected to monitor the output signal from the transducer and activates a stimulator which is operable to provide movement to the base member to stimulate movement in the object when output from the transducer to the circuit corresponds to no movement from the object. The transducer may be a pressure transducer in fluid communication with the fluid interior of the sensing pad. In the alternative, a piezo-electric sheet operatively connected to a surface of the sensing pad to detect such movement as well as movement cessation. The circuit may also be connected to an alarm which can provide an audible or visual indication to third parties when there is no movement from the object.

Abstract:
An automated banking machine system and method is provided which is operative to display a disposable cash amount associated with an account. The disposable cash amount is calculated responsive to the current Available Balance and responsive to future debit and credits that are expected to post to the account. The disposable cash amount may be calculated by a computer of the ATM or by a computer in operative connection with the ATM such as host banking system or other server of the financial institution associated with the account. The ATM may provide a user interface which minimizes the number of inputs to dispense an amount of cash equal to the calculated disposable cash amount. The ATM or a web site, or other computer may provide a customer with the ability to edit and modify the parameters used to calculate the disposable cash amount for an account.
