Abstract: A data storage system may store a first data block having a first data configuration generated by a host in a non-volatile memory that is connected to a data module. A data strategy may be generated with the data module in response to the storage of data with the data strategy consisting of at least one trigger associated with identifying the first data block as hot. The first data block can be replicated to a different memory location with a second data configuration as directed by the data strategy with the first data configuration being different than the second data configuration.

Abstract: The slow speed of conventional selective electroplating and L-PED (and further requirement of a series of masks in the case of selective electroplating) necessary to generate a metallic three-dimensional object makes conventional selective electroplating and L-PED not viable for mass manufacturing metallic three-dimensional objects. The presently disclosed technology generally utilizes electroplating and L-PED technologies with a screen electroplating process. The screen electroplating process disclosed herein is capable of achieving a faster throughput and a lower workpiece temperature than traditional 3D printing processes can provide, particularly traditional metal 3D printing processes. As a result, the presently disclosed screen electroplating process is able to achieve much faster results in printing a complex three-dimensional metallic structure using electroplating.

Abstract: A data storage system can have a hardware interposer connected inline between a plurality of controllers and a plurality of memories. A bus of the hardware interposer may be monitored with a security breach monitor of the hardware interposer to allow a deviation from a predetermined address range to be detected by the security breach monitor, which prompts the security breach monitor to block access through the hardware interposer for a first controller of the plurality of controllers.

Abstract: A data storage system may have a plurality of memory cells located in different data storage devices that are arranged into a plurality of logical namespaces with each logical namespace configured to be sequentially written and entirely erased as a single unit. An asymmetry strategy may be proactively created with the asymmetry module in response to data access activity to the logical namespaces by the asymmetry module. A new mode, as prescribed by the asymmetry strategy, is entered for at least one logical namespace in response to an operational trigger being met. The new mode changes a timing of at least one queued data access request to at least one logical namespace.

Abstract: A hard disk drive includes at least one magnetic disk and a motor assembly. The motor assembly is configured to rotatably support the magnetic disk(s) and circumferentially rotate the magnetic disk(s) about an axis of rotation during operations of the hard disk drive. The motor assembly includes at least one rotational balancing spring pin. Each rotational balancing spring pin is configured to reduce a rotating unbalance of the motor assembly.

Abstract: A secret sharing scheme with yes and no shares and having a hidden access structure. The secret sharing scheme may include share generation in which yes shares and no shares are generated for, and distributed to, each party in the secret sharing scheme. In turn, upon an attempt to reconstruct the secret, participants in the reconstruction each provide a share, which is unknown to be a yes share or a no share to the other participants. The secret is only reconstructable if the shares used in the reconstruction include yes shares of a minimal authorized subset of the parties. However, prior to secret reconstruction, the access structure remains hidden and the participants in a reconstruction are unaware of the character of the shares provided by other participants in the reconstruction attempt.

Abstract: Failure-domain-specific cryptographic keys for use in control of access to data within failure domains of a storage drive. A unique failure domain-specific cryptographic key may be associated with each of a plurality of failure domains in a storage drive. The failure domains may correspond to any portion of the storage media of a drive that is susceptible to failure while leaving other portions of the storage drive functional. In turn, upon detection of a condition associated with a failure (e.g., an actual or predicted failure) of a failure domain, the associated failure domain-specific cryptographic key may be deleted to preclude further access to data in the failed failure domain. Deletion of the failure domain-specific cryptographic key may be before or after data in the failed failure domain is rebuilt in another portion of a storage drive that is functional.
