Abstract:
A locking mechanism to prevent rotation between a press frame and a hydraulic cartridge threaded into the press frame is disclosed in one aspect of the invention as including a locking mechanism body; one or more fasteners to attach the body to the frame of an HPHT press; and a pin extendable with respect to the body and adapted to engage an aperture in the hydraulic cartridge. The pin prevents rotation of the hydraulic cartridge relative to the frame. In certain embodiments, a cap constructed of a softer material than the hydraulic cartridge is attached to the end of the pin to prevent scratching or damage to the hydraulic cartridge.
Abstract:
In one aspect of the present invention, a paved surface reconditioning system has a vehicle adapted to traverse a paved surface. The vehicle having a press plate with a working surface having plurality of nozzles disposed therein. At least one of the nozzles has an inner diameter less than 1 mm. A fluid passage may connect the nozzle to a reservoir. The reservoir and fluid passage have a volume and a pressurizing mechanism in communication with the volume and being adapted to pressurize at least a portion of the volume.
Abstract:
In one aspect of the invention, a cartridge assembly is adapted for connection to a frame of a high pressure, high temperature press having a front end with a back up intermediate and coaxial with an anvil and a piston. The back up has an anterior end proximate the anvil and posterior end proximate the piston. The cartridge assembly has a hydraulic system adapted to apply axial pressure to the back-up through the piston to axially move the front end with respect to a cartridge body. The assembly also has a centralizing assembly with a rod rigidly attached to the cartridge body at a first end and a second end adapted to slide within a peripheral bore formed in the front end.
Abstract:
In one aspect of the present invention, a high-temperature, high-pressure press apparatus has a cartridge assembly adapted for connection to a unitary frame. An anvil is attached at a front end of a cylindrical body of the cartridge and a hydraulic chamber within the body is adapted to apply axial pressure to the anvil. A threaded end of the anvil is adapted for mating with a threaded inside diameter of a borehole disposed within a wall of the frame. A radial compression element disposed around an outer diameter of the body is adapted to limit radial expansion of the body proximate the hydraulic chamber. At least one mechanism is attached to the radial compression element; the at least one mechanism being adapted to preload the threaded connection between the cartridge assembly and the frame.
Abstract:
A cartridge assembly for connection to the frame of a high pressure, high temperature press, comprising a front end. The front end may comprise a back up with a conical portion intermediate and coaxial with an anvil and a piston. The anvil may comprise a proximal end in contact with the back-up and a distal end being adapted to form part of a pressurized chamber within the frame. The back-up may comprise a truncated cylinder comprising a first and second interface that are joined by a peripheral cylindrical wall. The cylindrical wall may also comprise a portion extending normally from the periphery of the first interface to a net concave portion of the cylindrical wall. The net concave portion may extend from the normal portion of the cylindrical wall to the periphery of the second interface which abuts the anvil.
Abstract:
A method for recycling a paved surface includes the steps of providing a motorized vehicle adapted to traverse a paved surface; providing the motorized vehicle with a plurality of degradation elements, a plurality of foaming elements and a plurality of compacting elements; each plurality being attached to a carriage slidably supported by a bearing surface of an underside of the motorized vehicle; degrading the paved surface with the plurality of degradation elements as the vehicle traverses the paved surface; foaming rejuvenation material by the plurality of foaming elements into the degraded surface as the surface is being degraded; and compacting the degraded surface and the rejuvenation material into a new surface with the plurality of compaction elements as the foaming elements continue to foam rejuvenation material into the degraded surface.

Abstract:
The present invention includes a hydraulic cartridge and unitary frame connection for a high pressure high temperature press apparatus with the hydraulic cartridge having a cylindrical base and truncated hollow conical section The truncated section has an external threadform with a taper between about 2.650 and 5.650 inches per foot. The unitary frame having an opening with an internal threadform extending axially substantially between an outer surface and an inner reaction chamber defined by the unitary frame and the internal threadform being threadedly mated with the external threadform of the hydraulic cartridge such that a load is substantially equally distributed across the external threadform.
