Abstract: An autonomous all-terrain robot for agricultural industries is designed to install support stakes inground on plant beds while being able to self-navigate. Apparatus and method provide a robot having the ability to perform the actions of navigating between plant beds and to determine a precise location and depth to place each supporting stake. The purpose of the stakes is to support the plants with weak stems. Part of some planting processes require stakes to support a plant as it begins to grow. from a two- or three-week-old plant to a fully mature plant. The presently disclosed subject matter provides a machine that can aid in the planting process of both bell peppers and eggplants and similar crops, used to drive stakes into planting beds. The presently disclosed technology (such as specific robotic device or robot) can work 24/7, weather permitting, while providing an efficient and completely hands-free way to install stakes needed in the planting process.

Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems using ADAM30 as a biomarker to help early diagnosis of congenital malformed vasculatures in children and which can also serve as a companion diagnostic biomarker for malformed vasculatures, as well as a subpopulation of cancer cells, wherein blockage of activity of ADAM30 by a neutralized antibody or inhibitor can be used as a treatment strategy for those ADAM30-positive vascular endothelial cells and cancer cells.

Abstract: Methods of non-destructive rail analysis and evaluation for railroad tracks are provided. The methods can include capturing images of rails over time and at various temperatures. High-contrast patterns can be applied to or associated with a rail to facilitate image analysis. Rail neutral temperature (RNT), stress, strain, and curvature of the track can be determined using image correlation and regression analysis. A stereovision system may be used for rail neutral temperature measurements and for determining effects of a heating method. A non-contacting, nondestructive methodology for RNT and longitudinal rail stress measurements is based on stereo vision image acquisition and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) for acquiring the full field shape, deformation, and strain measurements taken during a thermal cycle. The thermal cycle can be natural or induced.

Abstract: Method and apparatus detect structural damage of structures using Acoustic Emission (AE) sensors. Using our method, structures can be monitored in real-time to predict damage level. This damage level assessment can be used to plan repairs and restorations of structures. Application can be used with concrete, and also applied to other materials such as composites. Predictive AE models may be tuned for determining structural damage zones, with the method extendable into any number of zones. An algorithm may be used in conjunction with decision tree filtering to use AE to predict structural damage zones, with the system able to perform analysis in real-time.

Abstract: Described herein are drone designs, and methods for making same, wherein drones are constructed from interlocking modular nacelles of different types allowing nacelles to be added as needed to increase payload capacity, flight time, and mission capability as the application requires. The modular nacelles can be attached together into an aggregate structure, called a collective, as desired to yield an infinitely expandable and extensible drone. Since each nacelle includes its own battery, nacelles can be added as needed to achieve whatever capability is needed for the application at hand without having to customize the design of the drone.
