Abstract: A switching device for low or medium voltage electric power distribution network, the switching device including one or more electric poles, each electric pole including: an insulating housing extending along a longitudinal axis and fixed to a main support structure of the switching device; a first pole terminal and a second pole terminal electrically connectable with a corresponding phase conductor of an electric power source and with a corresponding load conductor of an electric load, respectively; a movable contact and a fixed contact, which are electrically coupleable or decoupleable one with or from another upon a movement of the movable contact towards or away from the fixed contact, the fixed contact being electrically connected with the first pole terminal, the movable contact being electrically connectable with the second pole terminal; a movable circuit assembly including a plurality of semiconductor devices adapted to switch in a conduction state or in an interdiction state depending on the voltage applied thereto, the semiconductor devices being electrically connected in series one to another in such a way that a current can flow according to a predefined conduction direction when the semiconductor devices are in a conduction state, the movable circuit assembly including first and second assembly terminals for the plurality of semiconductor devices. The movable circuit assembly is operatively coupled with the movable contact and moves together with the movable contact during a movement of the movable contact towards or away from the fixed contact, the semiconductor devices switching in a conduction on state or in an interdiction state depending on the position of the movable contact.

Abstract: A switching device for an electric circuit, the switching device comprising: at least one phase having a movable contact which can be coupled to/separated from a corresponding fixed contact; a kinematic chain operatively associated to the movable contact; driving means adapted to move the kinematic chain between a first position and a second position for actuating the movable contact; and control means adapted to control the driving means. The kinematic chain is adapted to reach the second position from the first position before reaching a dead-point position, and the control means are adapted to: detect a loss condition of a power supply associable to and suitable for operating the switching device, while the kinematic chain is in the second position; and control the driving means to move the kinematic chain away from the second position when the loss condition is detected, in such a way that the kinematic chain passes through the dead-point position and reaches a third position between the dead-point position and corresponding blocking means of the switching device.

The circuit assembly comprises an input terminal, an output terminal and at least an intermediate terminal electrically connected with at least an intermediate electric node positioned between two subsequent semiconductor devices. The input terminal is electrically connected with the fixed contact: the input terminal, the output terminal and the at least an intermediate terminal are electrically coupleable/decoupleable with/from the movable contact when the movable contact reaches different positions during a movement towards/away from the fixed contact in such a way that different groups of semiconductor devices switch in an ON state or in an OFF state at different instants during the movement of the movable contact, depending on the position reached by the movable contact.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling a motor-driven vacuum circuit breaker. The method comprises initiate opening (S100) the circuit breaker, wherein the circuit breaker moves with an average opening speed of a contact pair of the circuit breaker, from a closed position to an open position of the circuit breaker, and decelerating (S110) the opening speed of the contact pair to below the average opening speed before the open position is reached to avoid overshoot, and initiate closing (S120) the circuit breaker, wherein the circuit breaker moves with an average closing speed of the contact pair, from the open position to the closed position, and decelerating (S130) the closing speed of the contact pair to below the average closing speed before contact touch at the closed position, wherein the circuit breaker moves with the decelerated speed at contact touch. A motor-driven vacuum circuit breaker, a computer program and a computer program product are also presented.

Abstract: The invention relates to a control unit for a medium voltage switching apparatus. The control unit is adapted to carry out a diagnostic method to check operating conditions of one or more components of said electric poles.
