Apparatus for reducing emissions of PCDD and PCDF in exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine includes a transition metal-containing catalyzer for the selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxides, and a molecular sieve upstream of the catalyzer, either as a layer on the catalyzer or on a separate structure. The molecular sieve blocks hydrocarbons from reaching the transition metal-containing catalyzer.

A transition metal-containing catalyzer is arranged on a particle filter installed in the exhaust gas line of an internal combustion engine and cannot be separated therefrom without being destroyed. To reduce emissions, at least one molecular sieve which retains polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans is arranged between the transition metal-containing catalyzer and the exhaust gas outlet. Further, the input side of the molecular sieve and/or the output side of the catalyzer has an oxidation activity for hydrocarbons, polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans upstream of the molecular sieve.

A device for the aftertreatment of exhaust gases in an exhaust gas system of internal combustion engines, having at least one reductant decomposition catalyst. Arranged in the exhaust gas flow, and a metering device arranged upstream of the latter in an exhaust gas line for supplying reductant. Preferably at least one other catalyst device is provided downstream of the reductant decomposition catalyst. An inlet section for the exhaust gas having at least one flow deflection area is arranged upstream of the reductant decomposition catalyst and constructed for the exhaust gas to be fed into a housing radially outside an inlet pipe adjoining the reductant decomposition catalyst that encloses the inlet pipe, and is guided in counterflow through a front inlet opening of the inlet pipe to the reductant decomposition catalyst. The reductant is fed into the flow deflection area associated with the inlet opening.

A method and to a device for the regeneration of a particle filter arranged in the exhaust gas tract of an internal combustion engine with at least one NO oxidation catalyst for the oxidation of NO, especially to NO2, which is arranged upstream of the particle filter and through which an exhaust gas stream flows. At least one heater, especially a heating catalyst, through which another gas stream, i.e., a second exhaust gas stream, flows and which heats the additional gas steam, is provided upstream of the particle filter. The heated additional gas stream is mixed upstream of the particle filter with the exhaust gas stream coming from the NO oxidation catalyst, i.e., the gas stream loaded in particular with NO2.

A method for application in conjunction with an exhaust gas post-treatment system for metering an ammonia-releasing reducing agent into the exhaust gas stream of an internal combustion engine installed in a motor vehicle and operated with excess air. A control unit meters the quantity of reducing agent as a function of a stored model and during the operation of the internal combustion engine varies the metered quantity during certain operating phases and compares the change in the measured value of at least one NOx sensor installed downstream of the SCR catalyst with an expected value.

The outer diameter of the catalyzer and/or of the particle filter and/or of the particle separator is less than or equal to the inner diameter of the compensator.

A particle separator and method for removing particles from an exhaust gas stream of an internal combustion engine. A prescribed number of flow cells are formed in the particle separator. The exhaust gas stream flows into and/or out of the flow cells via, as viewed in a main direction of flow of the exhaust gas stream, side wall regions of the flow cells. At least one storage space is formed in the flow cells for storing particles removed from the exhaust gas stream, which flows through at least portions of the particle separator.

At least one catalyzer for oxidizing hydrocarbon-containing PCDD precursor substances and PCDF is arranged upstream of the at least one transition metal-containing SCR catalyzer and/or at least one catalyzer for degrading precursor substances for degrading the polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and/or polychlorinated dibenzofurans is arranged downstream of the at least one transition metal-containing catalyzer. The at least one catalyzer for degrading PCDD and PCDF and/or the at least one catalyzer for oxidizing hydrocarbon-containing precursor substances thereof are/is additionally active for the reduction of nitric oxides by means of ammonia.
