    Abstract: An electronic watch includes a housing and a crown assembly including a rotatable actuation member. The rotatable actuation member includes a knob external to the housing and configured to receive a rotational input and a shaft assembly coupled to the knob and positioned at least partially within the housing, the shaft assembly defining a sensing surface configured to rotate in response to the rotational input. The electronic watch further includes an optical sensing system configured to detect the rotational input, the detecting including directing light onto the sensing surface, receiving reflected light from the sensing surface, and producing a signal corresponding to a rotational motion of the sensing surface, the signal based at least in part on an interference between the light directed onto the sensing surface and the reflected light.

    Abstract: Embodiments include a wearable electronic device including a housing having an internal wall separating an internal chamber from an external chamber, an outer shell defining a port that connects the external chamber to an external environment, a membrane positioned at an opening in the internal wall and configured to equalize a pressure within the internal chamber with a pressure of the external environment, a first pressure-sensing device positioned in the internal chamber and configured to produce a first output, a second pressure-sensing device positioned in the external chamber and configured to produce a second output, and a processing unit configured to estimate the pressure of the external environment using the second output in accordance with a determination an accuracy condition satisfies a criteria and estimate the pressure of the external environment using the first output in accordance with a determination the accuracy condition does not satisfy the criteria.

    Abstract: An electronic device can include a housing, an audio component, and a gasket. The housing can define a first internal volume and the audio component can define a second internal volume. The audio component can include membrane and a venting element having a fluid impermeable layer. The venting element can define a fluid path placing the first internal volume and the second internal volume in fluid communication. At least a portion of the fluid path can extend parallel to the fluid impermeable layer. The gasket can define a seal between the first internal volume and an ambient environment adjacent the housing.
