    Abstract: An optical waveguide body includes first and second pluralities of light extraction features disposed on a first side of the waveguide body and adapted to direct light out of the waveguide body through a second side of the waveguide body opposite the first side. Each of the first plurality of light extraction features has a linear shape and each of the second plurality of light extraction features has at least one of a piecewise linear shape and a nonlinear shape. The piecewise linear shape comprises two adjacent planar surfaces with an angle therebetween of at least about 30 and at most about 180 degrees. The waveguide body further has a light coupling cavity.

    Abstract: A lighting device comprises a body of optically transmissive material exhibiting a total internal reflection characteristic, the body further comprising a light input surface for receiving light, a light extraction portion spaced from the light input surface, a light transmission portion disposed between the light input surface and the light extraction portion, and at least one light deflection surface for deflecting light toward the light extraction portion. Further in accordance with this aspect the light extraction portion comprises a first extraction surface for extracting light deflected by the at least one light deflection surface out of the body and a second extraction surface for extracting light other than light deflected by the at least one light deflection surface out of the body.

    Abstract: A linear LED lighting system, assembly and/or fixture distributes luminance efficiently in certain applications, such as for ceiling lighting used in certain retail environments. According to example embodiments of the invention, a linear LED lighting system includes at least two tilted, parabolic reflecting surfaces and a linear array of LED devices, wherein at least some of the LED devices are substantially disposed at a focus line of at least one of the tilted, parabolic reflecting surfaces. A diffuser or diffusive lens can be disposed adjacent to the parabolic reflecting surfaces where light exits the system to provide color mixing and/or eliminate potential hot spots. The tilt of the reflecting surfaces can be changed to adjust the illumination pattern. A lighting system according to example embodiments of the invention can be designed for retrofit installation or as a complete fixture.

    Abstract: A sensor module for a lighting fixture includes a module housing configured to be mounted to a lighting fixture, a light sensor mounted in the module housing, and a sensor cover over the light sensor. The sensor cover includes a first surface oriented to face a task surface within an area of interest, and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first surface includes a first Fresnel lens having a number of Fresnel ridges oriented in a first direction. The second surface includes a second Fresnel lens having a number of Fresnel ridges oriented in a second direction, which is different from the first direction. Providing the first Fresnel lens and the second Fresnel lens with differently oriented Fresnel ridges allows the sensor cover to focus light from a relatively large portion of the task surface to the light sensor while remaining small.

    Abstract: An LED bulb with a down-reflecting optic is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention can provide for an omnidirectional intensity distribution in the vertical plane for a vertically oriented solid-state lamp. In example embodiments, an optically transmissive enclosure is installed on the driver base. A plurality of LEDs are mounted on a mounting surface of the driver base, and an optical arrangement is disposed at least partially in an optical path from the plurality of LEDs to a central area of the optically transmissive enclosure to down-reflect at least some light from the plurality of LEDs. The optical arrangement can include a TIR optic with a spline-driving surface to down-reflect the at least some light from the plurality of LEDs, or a substantially flat mirror. Either may include a central aperture, and the optical arrangement may include a diffuser or diffusive areas.
