Abstract: Described herein are systems, devices, techniques and products for managing the dynamic assignment of media access control (MAC) addresses to wireless network devices, such as by identifying a dynamically assigned MAC address before, after, or during a wireless association process and communicating the dynamically assigned MAC address to a wireless network device. Also disclosed are systems, devices, techniques and products for preventing a denial of service attack on a wireless access point's association table, such as by requiring devices that associate with a wireless access point to respond to a query from the wireless access point shortly after association.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to intelligent scheduling of Wi-Fi services for applications. An embodiment of computer-readable storage mediums includes instructions for receiving data packets from multiple connected devices at a wireless access point and identifying an application traffic flow for each data packet; assigning each data packet to a respective queue of a first set of queues based on an identified application traffic flow for each data packet; selecting data packets from the first set of queues based on priorities for each of multiple applications; generating prioritized candidate lists for selected data packets in a second set of queues, each queue being dedicated for an access category for one or more application; and scheduling data packets from the candidate lists, including selecting a transmission mode for each access category based on characteristics of the one or more applications.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing channel bandwidth while increasing downlink multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (DL MU-MIMO) gain. Depending on the access point (AP) platform, for example, APs exhibit certain characteristics regarding DL MU-MIMO gain as a function of the number of DL MU-MIMO clients associated to the AP. Accordingly, APs can be configured to operate in accordance with an algorithm that checks the number of DL MU-MIMO capable clients are associated to an AP, and dynamically switch between single- and dual-radio modes of operation to take advantage of those DL MU-MIMO gains.

Abstract: An example of controlling a network of wireless access points (APs) to detect that a client device associated with the network is stationary in an AP-overlap area, and in response to the detection that the client device is stationary in the AP-overlap area, assigning one of the APs to be a preferred AP for the client device. The APs are to avoid connecting with any client devices that have been assigned another AP as a preferred AP. Thus, the stationary client device in the overlap area may be prevented from undesired roaming.

Abstract: Example method includes: determining, by a network device, a plurality of client devices' locations within a wireless network; assigning the plurality of client devices into a number of clusters; calculating an original cluster centroid location for each cluster of client devices; calculating an average distance between each client device in a particular cluster and the original cluster centroid location for the particular cluster; iteratively adjusting the number of clusters and assignment of the plurality of client devices to determine the number of clusters associated with a low number of cluster and a low average distance from each client device in a respective cluster to a respective cluster centroid location; and assigning a subset of access points in the wireless network to a high priority, each AP in the subset having the closest distance to the respective cluster centroid location corresponding to the determined number of clusters.

Abstract: An example access point comprising: a memory; and a processor executing instructions stored in the memory to: determine a first interference event while operating on a first channel, wherein the first channel is designated to the access point in a global channel plan by a network controller based on a global view of a wireless network; switch to operate on a second channel from the first channel for a first amount of time in response to the first interference event; determine a second interference event of the same event type as the first interference event on the first channel, wherein the second interference event is the same event type as the first interference event; and switch to operate on the second channel from the first channel for a longer amount of time than the first amount of time, wherein the second channel is selected based on a local view of the wireless network by the access point.

Abstract: Systems and methods for assigning BSS colors in a deployed wireless area network (WLAN) include identifying a plurality of APs of an external wireless network operating on a same channel as a deployed AP of a deployed wireless network; selecting as a subset of the plurality of APs of the external wireless network those APs of the external wireless network based on expected interference; grouping the APs of the subset of the plurality of APs by a basic service set (BSS) color used by each of the plurality of identified APs of the external wireless network to form AP BSS color groups; calculating an airtime utilization for each AP color group; and selecting a BSS color using the calculated airtime utilization and assigning the selected BSS color for use by the deployed AP of the deployed wireless network.
