    Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for detecting a skimmer located proximate a card reader of a self-service terminal (SST). The systems and methods may include obtaining a baseline measurement for a plurality of sensors located proximate the card reader and activating a subset of the plurality of sensors. A signal may be received from each of the subset of the plurality of sensors that were activated. When the signal from each of the subset of the plurality of sensors deviate from the baseline measurement by a predetermined threshold, a determination may be made that the skimmer is proximate the card reader. In response to determining that the skimmer is located proximate the card reader, the self-service terminal may be disabled.

    Abstract: A modular valuable media recycling device is presented. The valuable media recycling device includes a media infeed module, a validator module, an escrow module, a plurality of media feeder/stacking modules, and a plurality of cassette modules. When a module handles a valuable media item along a media transport path, the module's identifier and security information are passed as a message to a next module that is to handle the media item in a processing path for the media item. Each module independently validates the authenticity of the message received from a previous module. The number of media feeder/stacking modules and cassette modules are scalable based on the transaction terminal that the modular valuable media recycling device is integrated into.

    Abstract: A system for detecting mounting of a card skimmer at an automated teller machine receives detection data from sensors. The system converts the detection data from the time domain to the frequency domain using a wavelet transform to generate a wavelet matrix of coefficients. The system includes a convolutional neural network model to identify features in the wavelet matrix. The system generates a rain alert signal based on the identified features. The system includes a long short-term memory recurrent neural network model to determine a sequence of (i) an idle state, (ii) a hand approach state, and (iii) a card skimmer mounting state based on the detection data.     Abstract: A system and method is described for detecting a foreign object inserted into a card reader. The card reader has a housing having an internal portion and a card entry slot formed therein. A reader device for reading information from a card is mounted within the internal portion of the housing. A transport mechanism is within the internal portion of the housing and includes a structure having one or more distinctive patterns on an upper surface thereof. A camera is mounted within the housing above the transport mechanism in a position to allow an image to be taken of the upper surface of the structure of the transport mechanism. A controller is coupled to the camera to receive images therefrom and configured to compare each image received from the camera to a reference image to determine when a foreign object has been inserted into the internal portion of the housing.
