Abstract:
A system for monitoring of vehicles and particularly heavy vehicles and their compliance with specific network (e.g. road) access conditions uses vehicle telematics solutions. The system includes an in-vehicle unit (IVU) associated with a vehicle being monitored. The IVU includes a receiver for receiving positioning signals, a processor for processing a time-marked log of vehicle data, a storage element for storing the time-marked log and a first wireless communication element for communicating time marked data to a Service Provider (SP) processing apparatus. One or more Service Providers operate Service Provider (SP) processing apparatus. The SP processing apparatus include a SP wireless communication element for receiving time-marked data from one or more IVUs and a SP processor for processing received data. The SP processor is adapted to compare received data from the time-marked log of a vehicle with one or more vehicle-use conditions applicable to that vehicle, and to generate a non-compliance report where the comparison indicates that non-compliant activity has occurred. A SP storage element stores non-compliance reports and relevant time-marked data.

An apparatus and system for the replication of a Radio Frequency (RF) signal that is being employed as a method of activating or functioning a Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RCIED), which comprises the method of scanning the RF spectrum, detecting a signal, replicating any embedded coding contained within the signal and transmitting the signal in a repetitious state while periodically scanning the RF spectrum for the same signal or another signal that meets the programmed replication criteria.
Abstract:
A machine for tossing or set ting a volleyball into the air, to aid in practice of spiking the ball, includes a cylindrical housing with a ball exit opening at one end, with legs to set the housing on the ground with the exit opening facing upward. A ball support cup with attached rod is slidably supported in the housing by a linear bearing. The ball support cup is spring biased toward the exit end; a brake prevents the rod from passing completely through the bearing. The lower end of the rod includes teeth which are engageable with a sprocket wheel of a timer assembly. When a ball is placed on the support cup, and the cup is pushed down, the teeth will engage the sprocket wheel to activate the timer; after a time, the sprocket wheel will disengage from the teeth, allowing the spring to move the support cup upward to launch the ball through the exit opening.

A lidded container made of plastics material comprises a body (10) with a top rim (11) and a lid (12) with a flange (18) for sealing engagement inside the rim (11). The lid (12) has a web (17) part carrying said flange (18), which depends therefrom, and also carrying a depending skirt (16) for surrounding the outside of the rim (11), said skirt (16) having a plurality of inwardly-directed projections (21) each engageable in latching relationship in a recess (31) on the outside of the rim (11), and said web part (17) having apertures (24) corresponding to said projections (21), whereby a tool can be inserted through each aperture (24) to disengage the corresponding projection (21) from said recess (31).

A 3D video image encoding apparatus includes a segmentation mechanism to partition a 3D video image sequence into two or more segments, each including one or more 3D video images, an image processor to identify an overall minimum apparent distance to an observer within each segment of the 3D video image sequence, a metadata generator to encode the overall minimum apparent distance for a respective segment within metadata associated with that segment, and an indication of length of time of the segment, and/or indication of time until the next segment. A 3D video image decoding apparatus includes a metadata parsing mechanism to parse metadata associated with respective of plural segments of 3D video, to decode from the metadata an overall minimum apparent distance to an observer for that respective segment and an indication of length of time of that segment and/or indication of time until a next segment.

A kit and a method for making a porous cement which self sets to hydroxyapatite and has an interconnected porosity is produced by mixing a calcium source and a phosphate source with a carbonate source and mixing this powdered component with a liquid component having an acid component. The liquid component comprises water or an aqueous solution containing an acid. The acid and the carbonate react to form carbon dioxide thereby producing an interconnected porosity in the normally solid self-hardening bone cement. The method requires only a relatively low weight percent of the acid and base to be mixed with the liquid and powder cement components.
