Abstract: Optical sensing is provided with a compensated light paths. For example, embodiments can operate in context of an under-display optical fingerprint sensor integrated into an electronic device, such as a smartphone. Responsive to reflected probe light passing through a display module, a compensation structure is configured to compensate for divergent refracting of the reflected probe light caused by backlighting enhancement structures. Some embodiments operate in context of an enhancement panel having micro-prism structures that tend to blur the reflected probe light. In such context, embodiments are configured to provide one or more compensation film layers to compensate for optical effects of the enhancement panel, thereby mitigating blurring and/or other undesirable optical conditions.

Abstract: Electronic consumable devices (ECDs) are provided with integrated bio-traceability to facilitate user-based usage restriction, tracking, etc. For example, an individual legally purchases an ECD (e.g., an e-cigarette) from a vendor, and the ECD has a biosensor (e.g., fingerprint scanner) integrated therein. During the purchasing, the vendor uses a controller device to set up registration of the ECD for the individual, and the ECD cannot be used prior to registration. As part of the registration, the individual uses the biosensor to register a biometric signature, and the vendor's controller device confirms registration of the ECD. According to some embodiments, subsequent to registration, the ECD can be used only in connection with maintaining both device-level authorization based on communications with one or more remote controller devices and user-level authorization based on acquisition of the registered biometric signature by the integrated biosensor.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a display screen, which includes a cover glass, a transparent layer disposed under the cover glass disposed under the cover glass, and a display illumination layer disposed under the transparent layer. The electronic device further includes an optical ID sensing module disposed under the display illumination layer and configured to form an image of a fingerprint pattern or a palmprint pattern of a hand of a user. The electronic device further includes a light source disposed at an edge side of the transparent layer, and is configured to emit a light beam to be coupled into the transparent layer through the edge side. A portion of the light beam may be transmitted through the cover glass to illuminate the hand for imaging of fingerprint pattern or the palmprint pattern by the optical ID sensing module.

Abstract: An optical fingerprint sensor module includes a light source configured to provide illumination light directed toward a finger. A portion of the illumination light may be scattered or reflected off of the finger, thereby generating signal light. The optical fingerprint sensor module further includes a photodiode array that has a surface, a member defining a pinhole configured to receive and transmit the signal light, and a lens positioned adjacent the pinhole and configured to focus the signal light transmitted through the pinhole onto the surface of the photodiode array. An optical axis of the lens forms an angle with respect to a normal of the surface of the photodiode array that is between 45 degrees and 135 degrees. The optical fingerprint sensor module further includes electronic circuitries configured to process the electrical signals generated by the photodiode array to produce an image of a fingerprint pattern of the finger.

Abstract: In one aspect, a fingerprint sensor device includes sensing circuitry to generate a sensor signal responsive to detecting a contact input associated with a fingerprint. The sensing circuitry includes a fingerprint sensor to detect the contact input and generate a signal indicative of an image of the fingerprint. The sensing circuitry includes a live finger sensor to generate a signal indicative of an identification of the fingerprint as belonging to a live finger. The generated sensor signal includes the signal indicative of the image of the fingerprint and the signal indicative of the identification of the fingerprint as belonging to a live finger. The fingerprint sensor device includes processing circuitry communicatively coupled to the sensing circuitry to process the generated sensor signal to determine whether the contact input associated with the fingerprint belongs to a live finger.

Abstract: A security check system using face ID sensing for secure access to an electronic platform includes a first camera configured to form a near ideal image of an object, a second camera configured to form a modulated image of the object, and a computer memory configured to store face ID data of an authorized person. The security check system further includes a processing module configured to analyze the near ideal image of the object to extract a first set of facial signatures, analyze the modulated image of the object to extract a second set of facial signatures, compare the first set of facial signatures and the second set of facial signatures to the face ID data, and determine whether the object is the live face of the authorized person based on the comparison.
