Abstract: A sensor system has a plurality of optical sensors configured in an array on an integrated circuit and a lens system located proximal to a top surface of the array, where the intersection of the optical axis of the lens system with the plurality of optical sensors defines a reference point for light passing through the lens system. The sensor system includes a plurality of sets of optical filters overlaying the array between the lens system and the array, with each set of optical filters being associated with a set of optical sensors of the plurality of optical sensors and a set of optical filters of the plurality of sets of optical filters includes a plurality of optical filters where each set of optical filters has a center wavelength for light transmitted through the set of optical filters. In the sensor system each optical filter of the plurality of optical filters is configured to pass light in a different wavelength range, with at least some sets of optical filters configured to provide a center wavelength that is higher than a center wavelength of a set of optical filters at the reference point. An interface is provided for receiving output signal representative of received light from the optical sensors and to output signal from the plurality of optical sensors, with the output signal being representative of received light from the plurality of optical sensors and a spectral response is determined for each set of optical sensors associated with a set of optical filters.

Abstract: An spectral sensor system includes an array of optical sensors arranged on an integrated circuit, an interface between the plurality of optical sensors and a first processing device, a plurality of sets of optical filters configured as a layer located atop the plurality of optical sensors, with each set of optical filters including a plurality of optical filters, each optical filter configured to pass light in a different wavelength range. The spectral sensor system includes a memory configured to interface with the first processing device, the memory configured to store calibration data associated with the plurality of sets of optical sensors. The spectral sensor system further includes second processing device includes an artificial neural network configured to correct a spectral response generated by the plurality of optical sensors and an interface between the first processing device and the second processing device is configured to transmit information therebetween.

Abstract: A method for one or more modules of one or more processors of a spectral sensor system begins by receiving a plurality of synthetic spectra, where a synthetic spectrum of the plurality of synthetic spectra includes one or more known deviations from a reference spectrum. The method continues by generating a spectral output for each synthetic spectrum of the plurality of synthetic spectra and then training an artificial intelligence engine, using the combined spectral output to generate a trained neural network. The method then continues by calibrating, based on the trained neural network, a spectral response generated by another spectral sensor.

Abstract: A mobile device includes one or more spectrometers, each with a plurality of spectral filters overlaying optical sensors, each of the one or more spectrometers having a sensing range within a predetermined range of optical wavelengths. Each of the one or more spectrometers is further positioned in the mobile device to capture light radiation incident to the mobile device and output information representative of captured light radiation to a processing module adapted to receive the output information and determine an accumulated light radiation for the mobile device. A notification engine is adapted to signal a user when the accumulated light radiation exceeds a predetermined threshold.
